seriously i got this game for my birthday.. August 30th.. and still have not opened it.. I wish system 3 would have no sold it when its not ready.

Next monday 27th of Oct is a very possible date.

LOL!
I put this game aside waiting for the upgrade & while it was fun I don't think it'll be back in my PS3 for a while since that's the same day Little Big Planet will be out!!

System 3 screwed the pooch on this update.

Will LBP have what they much advertise, NO, lol
Only later on its life time. lol

Number of patchs for LBP are 1.01 that was available today and a 1.02 like patch will hit soon, by the way things are we may get a patch every 15 days for it, lol, this patch (1.01) was mainly to remove the Qu'ran thing.

Will you wait till LBP is totally fixed and has all the features promised?

I played the Beta for LBP & I played FC, FC is a fun game but not great, I had all the races won & had all the cars in just a few days, LBP will keep you busy for a long time, especially when all the user made levels are published & all the user created beta levels will be there at the beginning!

The longer FC sits on the shelf collecting dust the less likely it'll get played again soon with all the great games coming out.
If they'd have got the patch out at the first of the month I'd have spent more time playing it, but now it may be a while.

Well, based on the most recent posts in this thread, I suppose that the US patch is not available as of Thursday, October 30, 2008. Do you happen to have an updated "very possible date"?

Well, I just now checked the Official Eutechnyx Forums and saw the following post:

Hi,

Unfortunately the US patch has failed Sony testing. There was 1 must fix issue found and Sony has declared we cannot go ahead with the deployment until this is put right. We are aiming to re-submit the patch sometime next week.

Let me take this opportunity to apologise to everyone who have been waiting for the update and assure you we are doing everything possible to rectify the situation and have the patch distributed ASAP.

As ever, I will keep you informed…
Regards

Eutechnyx Team

The wait continues:

Too bad it's too late for a refund, why is it the initial patch can pass EU testing but not NA

My immediate impression is that there is still a little too much too play in the wheel, but it's a significant improvement. I can now play comfortably on Medium FFB setting, which gives a nice sense of the weight of the car without feeling like you're driving a truck. 👍

I haven't checked everything out yet, but I get a sense that the graphics have changed improved somewhat, with toned down colour & contrast?

Glad for you guys 👍 now it's our (PAL) time to wait. Can we (PAL and NTSC together) go online now? I played FC last night after about two months away and I'm very, very rusty ... :indiff:

How's the AI now?
-----------------
I've just been doing Trophy mode, mostly. I haven't noticed much difference. Maybe fewer mysterious spins from a car nudging your rear sideways. The AI still weaves and blocks, and will rear-end you if you brake too soon, and lock side-by-side. I find it best to CAREFULLY pick my passing points. Avoid collisions and squeeze points. If you make clean, carefully planned passes, you can avoid most of the BS.

Apart from the weaving behaviour, not condoned in nowadays real life racing, I think that your description portrays a very good AI.

In real life, passing points must be very CAREFULLY picked, and of course collisions are not an option, just an accident.

In fact, if we learn how to do clean, carefully planned passes, it's the AI that avoids most of our own BS :D 👍

IMO the most annoying thing that the FC AI does is "locking onto" your car when you pull up alongside. This is totally unrealistic as it does not benefit either car - IRL one or both cars would pull apart, but in FC the AI cars sticks to you. I've never seen this happen in any other racing game.

Aside from that I don't find the AI very intelligent - it doesn't seem to react to your presence. Typically, AI cars hug the inside line going into a corner, regardless of whether you have the inside position, so it always makes sense to move around them on the outside of the turn. However, I wouldn't say that AI is any worse than GT5P's.

As with GT5P the best hope for this game is going to be online racing.

My latest strategy is if I get locked on, I try to move over and slow down, let the other car get ahead, pull in behind. Most times, when I do this, I am able to do a clean pass very soon after. Better than staying locked on all the way to the next corner ( and maybe driven off the track.)

I've noticed that the AI does the "locking onto" thing to other AI cars as well. This seems to happen fairly frequently when you are in first. It makes for a pretty unchallenging race. The second and third place cars lock onto one another and your lead rapidly climbs.
