Where to watch F1? New to the sport.

I've managed to see a handful of F1 races and I'd actually like to follow the sport, but I hardly ever find them on TV. Are all the races broadcast? Anyone know where I can find a good broadcast schedule?

By the way, I hear a lot of fans talk about races on the 14 mile Nurburing (sorry for the spelling) Will they be racing there this season?

Thanks!

That depends on what country you are in.

No. The race on the "new" shorter Nurburgring. The Nordschleife is too long and dangerous to be used for F1 these days. F1 cars haven't been there since 1976.

Try this link... http://www.formula1.com/

If you're in the states, watch Speed Channel. It's channel 607 on DirecTV. The races are aired live, usually around 4:30AM PCT. Here's the programming schedule for them... http://speedtv.com/schedule/

Some races are being aired on CBS. In fact, the next race will be on this Sunday 10:00AM PCT on CBS. I hate it. The race is five hours delayed, and Derek Daly is one of the sports casters. He's horrible. Plus, you'll be lucky if you read about the F1 on CBS' sports website. They're doing a terrible job with it.

Not only Derek Daly... but that other joe schmoe is awful as well.
I'd mute the sound... but I like hearing the cars :(

I can only imagine what kind of emergancy staff they'd have to have on hand to cover that entire track. I guess they'd just have helicopters circling most of the race (:

They do race on the so-called New Nürburgring; it's a sanitized 3.1 mile version of the track, designed by a computer. It's no where near as challenging, but it's quite a lot safer.

I can't imagine the difficulty in setting up all those TV cameras, another reason F1 had to dispose of the old 'Ring. Niki Lauda's accident was about half-way around the track, and it took quite some time to get him to an ambulance (fortunately, some drivers tried to free him from his burning Ferrari).

If you´re in Brazil you can watch all the races live on Globo, and the Saturday´s qualifyings too. But if you were in Brazil you would know that already. :D

Is there any online way to see the races? A webcast maybe? I'd love to watch, but SPEED isn't offerred unless I switch to cable.

Thanks for the responses!

I live in the US. Southeast US, actually, where the only racing to be seen is Nascar, which bores me silly.

What little I've gotten to see of F1, the Rolex Series, and Rally racing, I'm hooked. But finding those on TV is a bit rough. I have the Speed Channel, and I see some cool stuff on sometimes, but it seems like it's mostly Nascar.

I watched the last race at the short Nurburgring. That's when I started noticing fans talking about the 14 mile track. And seeing it on GT4 and Forza only increased the interest. Does ANY type of racing happen at that track?

Thanks again!

I believe they still do the 24 hour race on Nurburgring Nordeschliefe (sp?), not sure though.
Oh, hell ya. They just had it. And Boris Said, along with two other drivers, was the first American who won it. He was in the BMW M3 GTR.
