i noticed that PD didint involved any drift tracks to GT5 , like downhill tracks from Japan or formuladrift tracks ;/ i miss it

The same "spirit" witch told me that one day we would be able to change rims on standard cars is saying to me right now that they are already working on a serious, nasty, scary and orgasmic touge.

Oh, he said its Kanawaga. (ok, im joking... but dream dont cost money).

In which title did PD include formula, downhill or touge drift tracks for you to "miss it"?

If talking hopes of a touge-style map, i would say a real candidate would be Iroha, as it has two different roads for up and downhill...although i'm only basing that knowledge on my Initial D background, so if they ever connect to make a full circuit, i would never know.

For organized drifting i find Tokyo Bay (Kart) to make great venues. It has the capability to be very wide and it looks like an organized drift map just like O-Daiba.

It even has event venders!

That´s the key point. Any track in future probably will come up in circuit format, not A-B. That´s why i mentioned Kanawaga (Project Torque, Level-R, Heat Online) because its an awsome exemple of how a circuit can happen in a mountain pass.

Also, before the Kart DLC came out, i was expecting something like this:

Shangai Rooftop, partial view. (Project Torque, Level-R, Heat Online)

If anything a "free drift" course like Grid had would be great. That way you could make your own sectors for drift comps.

Yeah, that would be epic. But looking for the GT´s track philosophy, its barely impossible to happen, unfortunaly.

Im all for false hopes. Thats how the rims for standard cars came up.

Indeed...I'm of the opinion we need more positive thinking around here lol.

I've always wanted to see "B-road" inspired tracks in the GT series. A canyon road from SoCal, The Dragon's Spine or whatever it's called from the US east coast, any of the wicked mountain pass roads from Japan, and a few euro mountain roads (the 'best road in the world' that was featured on top gear). I think these type of locals would add so much value to the game...touge, downhill, drifting, rallying, super car trials etc etc, as well as some awesome photo opportunities.

The other thing I'd love love love to see is a copy of the Shuto Expressway system from Tokyo. If that's not possible, then perhaps a 'Special Stage City' map that combines SSR5, SSR11, SSR7, and maybe even SSRX.

XD getting a bit off topic now, but yea, i'd love to see C1 and shuto configs of some maps.

Seeing as SSRX is over 30Kilos long, i'm sure PD could implement a portion of some Kaido out there....

 I'd kill to have a racing/drifting track on the top of my house...

Sorry my noobness... but i dont have any feedback of these terms (except Kaido, due the PS2 games). Can you please explain or ilustrate?

We're talking about section of freeways in Tokyo. Throughout downtown Tokyo, and branching out into the suburbs, are hundreds of kilometers of toll highways. The highways are, for the most part, either elevated, or below ground level in tunnels. It has sort of sprung up into pop culture by being popularized by street racing in Japan. There's TV shows and anime, as well as several video games based on racing "scene" on these highways in Tokyo.

The highways around the downtown area are actually very twisty, with lots of elevation change. The on and off ramps and interchanges are like a spaghetti bowl....making it pretty damn fun to drive really fast on haha.

I've never driven on it in realy life, nor would I drive like an idiot on it in realy life (unless it was closed to traffic!), but it would be wicked to see it as a "track" in the GT series. It's almost a sort of "urban Nurbugring".

All of the Special Stage tracks in the GT series are sort of patterned after this highway system. The road markings, the signage, the backdrops etc.

And SSRX is Special Stage Route X, the huge oval DLC track.

Oh i see now. Actualy, i wasn´t recognizing mostly the terms, but i see perfectly what you´re saying. Wangan Midnight (Anime), Tokyo Xtreme Racer (PS2)... but how that would envolve drifting? I know, there are some wide open corners that you can drift at 160 km/h, but then it would run away from the "drift track" idea.

You mentioned similarities to Nurburgring, twists, elevations... well, maybe i should look again on these kind of games on the PS2, because i all i remember are endless straights with some few open rounded corners.

You are right that there are certain sections of the highway that are very long straights. The "Wangan" (also called the Bayshore Route) is the most famous high speed section.

There are other parts, such as the "C1 Inner and C1 Outter" (the C1 is a loop that runs through the downtown, very close to R246) that are narrow and twisty. There are also many interchanges where the on and off ramps would make great drift spots.

The highway system is definitely not the best drift spot in the world. If we're talking about drift specific tracks, there are dozens that should go into the game before the highway....but I'd still love to see it, as it kind of offers opportunities to do lots of different types of racing, plus Tokyo at night is pretty cool looking.

And like I said, most of those terms we were using are names of sections of the highway.

Yes, the Irohazaka touge both connect with each other.

Here's a screen shot I took from Google maps:

:D yea sure, If you've ever played Tokyo Xtreme Racer games (such as Kaido Battle), you may have seen the C1 loop.

Talkin bout the top half. It's pretty intricate as far as highway battles go.

Was making a reference to SSRX just because it's large size could mean a large touge map (like the full Iroha loop) could be done in GT5. But i know nothing of programming, so i could very well be wrong

Ya there it is ^^. The top loop is the C1, which can be driven in either direction (and the clock-wise loop is quite different from the counter clock-wise loop). That's actually a pretty undetailed map though. I was gonna see if I could do the same thing Cerberus did with google earth when i get home tonight.

Sorry for the double post, but here it is:

Map of the highway in Tokyo
Untitled.jpg

Tokyo R246, as in GT5
C1 Inner and Outter
YellowShinjuku (north) and Shibuya (south)
"New Loop Line"
Wangan
Yokohane
Can't remember the name of the light green one, but it's a pretty cool section.

Definitely not as fun to drift as the one Cerebus posted, but it has it's good spots, and would be a pretty sweet free roam map :)

If Bathhurst is added as DLC it will definitely become a fovorite drift course. If you haven't seen it, look it up on youtube. Huge drops through the hills and its narrow as hell. Basically a perfect touge style course.
