Which car to use in ''Like the Wind'' lvl 21 A-SPEC Mode?

Made every mod I could, still no good (sorry for the rhyme)

I too used the ZR1,
Floored the throttle, pack was gone.

Tried again and how I laughed
I'd forgotten about the lead car's draft.

Add front aero, stretch the box
Suddenly the Corvette rocks!

Ride the air, hold on tight,
Draft past when the line's in sight!

I just completed this. Used the Furai for the Indy race as suggested earlier in the thread. It took about 8 tries to get it right. Then for the Daytona race I used an almost stock Veyron and won it on the first try. Thanks to the earlier posters for all of the tips! 👍

At first tried with furai but the best i could do was 9th. Then I tried with zonda R '09 and after 20 minutes of attempts and swearing at other drivers, i did the oval indy one, won by 3 car lengths. Then at daytona, i managed to win by 5 car lengths on my second try (using zonda as well).

God why did I waste so much time with the Furai on this race? Couldn't get better than 5th with the Furai or the ZR1 RM at Indy, but just won by over 2 seconds with the fully tuned Zonda R I won in B-Spec.

I'm having such a difficult time beating the 1st race in "Like the Wind". It's that Daytona track. I am using my Fully tuned RM'd ZR1, I was so lucky to wind the 2nd race though and got gold. But I'm struggling in getting gold on Daytona. My car is always spinning out when im exiting a corner. I am using a pad by the way. Is there a certain setting I'm suppose to use to make my car handle more stable? Can someone post the exact setup they are using in order to tune their ZR1 to beat this race in A-spec with a pad?

I really want to win this last event in the series so I can use the minolta 88cv to beat all the other races like all stars, world gt championship, etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Bugatti is your best best, just as carla said.
It doesn't turn while braking well, but on the straight aways it tears it up so go with that.

I used the tuned Furai like many here. I found it pretty easy, even losing it one time in the infield and still won by several seconds. I set for high downforce and picked em off by outbraking.

The Indy race I found harder with the Furai. It didn't want to turn until I cranked in a little front downforce.

A Veyron to win this one? Really, i tried that and was scraping wall. What tuning setup would you say to make this work with a veyron?

I tried the Veyron, just as said on straights unbeatable but steering is a pain in the ass .. i will give the funai a shot tonight, first two attempts looked nice (Indy Track) ...

Veyron wont win this, cause that daytona track has way too much bends. and cars from opponents such as Escudo will blow you away even on grass :)

Your best bet without buying a car is Mazda Furai, which you can win in B-spec (check what to win where list)

Or get Your B-Spec Bob to win one of the Championships ( I forget which one sorry) and you get the Zonda R as a Prize

Tune it up Turbo and Soft Tyres and you with that easily

I used the Furai to win the Daytona Road course race. You get it from the NR-A Roadster Cup in B-Spec mode. I set the max downforce possible on both front and back and I think I set the max speed on the transmission to 260 give or take a notch on the slider. Racing soft tires of course.

This was one of my most satisfying wins of the game so far. :-) However, it starts out frustrating as the AI drivers have a horrible habit of bumping you in the first few turns and spinning you out.

My strategy was to dive to the inside immediately on race start and try to take it easy through the very first turn, hopefully getting to 5th or so. The Furai has a tendency to spin out if you give it too much gas on the turns so be careful about flooring it out of the apex. Be careful about braking into the turns also. You should be able to draft the remaining cars on one side of the chicane or the other. The chicane you can take at very high speed once you get used to it and if you have to, even cut through the grass a bit. I think I finished the race about a second or two ahead of the pack. It was certainly exciting. :-)

Do a few practice laps with the Furai and you'll have it down in no time.

I don't know about you guys but I won with the Furai after my 3rd try with very little effort. I didn't even adjust any of the settings except for the gear ratio. I find the car's handling is fantastic...and you can easily catch the group(if yer behind) in the last two chicanes by the back straight.

I am trying to do the daytona race in a-spec using my fully modded and tuned ZR1-RM'd and its extremely hard to control, even with Racing Soft tires. The tail spins out easily on corners. I have a Zonda-R, would it be the easiest to control out of the ZR1, Furai Concept? Or do I need to grind to get the formula GT to make this easier. I am using the pad and not a wheel. Not sure if daytona would be easier with a wheel. But I am getting frustrated. I am trying to win that damn Minolta 88cv so I can win the other events.

I won the Indy one with great ease with the ZR1-RM and got 3rd so far at the Daytona one. But I know that's only because of my still somewhat lacking skills on that track (notably that first left corner). It felt like if I can tame the car a bit better I'll win this one as well with the ZR1-RM.

Ok guys im new to the site but ive been lurking since GT5 came out. Im not new to the GT series as ive played since the origianal. Ive read some of you did the Indianapolis track with the zr1 race modded. I tried and no way in the world I can catch the top 6. Mine is fully done, 887hp (race modded first then modded performance) and i cant catch them to save my life. What other car is good for this?

use the ZR1 you race modded in the american series, 98K a race and it will destroy the competition, I grinded that out to get the Audi R10 for 4,750,000 credits to win the like the wind series. The Peugeot 908 is cheaper but equal to the R10, 4 million credits.

is the Audi R10 faster and handle better than the minolta 88cv?

It might had a slight more acceleration but the handling on the Minolta is just supreme. You can floor the throttle and just worry about turning left every now and then, no braking or lifting the foot off the gas.

My first win on the oval was with the 787b Stealth and owned them all...

i put the big turbo on the R10 and walked away from everyone on the Indy track, for the Daytona Road Course race i went with the mid range turbo but you could use the big one just get ready for the back end to jump out. Now R10 was a handful around the nurburgring ring in the all star series, just went with the stock turbo and all the downforce possible, i need to find a good tune for it because the understeer was a pain.

My mangy old Furai with 1,000,000 in damage absolutely crushed Like the Wind at both Indy and Daytona in the first complete try. It's crazy to spend an additional penny when you can use the Furai for free as a prize car.

Here's my setup:

Ride Height-------------0 / 0
Springs-----------------13.0 (F) / 11.0 (R)
Dampers (Ext'n)-------7 (F) / 4 (R)
Dampers (comp)-------7 (F) / 4 (R)
Anti-Roll Bars-----------4 / 2
Camber------------------1.8 (F) / 1.2 (R)
Toe-----------------------0.00 (F) / 0.60 (R)
LSD----------------------15/50/25
Brakes-------------------6/3
Downforce---------------Maximum F & R

Speed/gears
Indy...........................236
Daytona......................224

TCS
Indy...........................0
Daytona......................7

Tires
Indy............................SS
Daytona.......................RS

At Indy, keep your foot down all the way: never lift.
Daytona, follow the line and don't make too many mistakes.

Dotini, thanks for posting up your tune! Hopefully this will work for me. I'm dying to get that minolta 88cv to finish all the other races. Are you using this tune with the dualschock controller or wheel?

I use a G27. People have reported that it's not the best wheel, but it's probably easier than with the controller.

I tried it with a RM zr1 fully done and it was a no go... Im waiting to buy the zonda R now and fully mod it out and see if i can take them out

The Zonda r is also too slow. Tried it ;)

I hope I get this race with the corvette mod now....

It works fine here. Just improve the downforce to the max, and you're good to go. :)

I messed around with both the Veyron and the Furai with absolutely no success whatsoever. Decided to bite the bullet and get the Corvette , surely it couldn't be any worse. Upgraded to Race modification , Racing softs and all the other upgrades apart from Supercharger as per guide. What a difference i completed Daytona on the 1st attempt and Indy on the 2nd , all i had to do was add full downforce and adjust the gear ratios , the car is set up perfectly from the get go as long as you make sure you're heading in a straight line before gunning the throttle in the lower gears , couldn't believe how well the car handled and how easy it was to do in the end , thanks to all who suggested the Corvette. 👍
