Hi

I was wondering what foot people use for braking ?

Personally I use my right foot for both acceleration and braking - like I do in a normal car.

But I can see that many good players use their left foot for braking - because its more effecient/controlable I guess? Especially in this trail-braking-friendly GTA/Demo :-)

You will lose so much time if you use your right foot. You need to left foot brake so you can brake as soon as you come off the throttle. Especially as we are fighting over tenths and hundreds of a second, left foot braking is even more important.

I am left too. If you're quick though, I think it's possible to use your right foot and be as fast. Rubens Barrichello predominantly used his right foot to brake for his entire F1 career. Only on very few occasions would he use his left on corners like turn 1 Suzuka where you need to balance the car up with throttle & brake.

I think the time you lose from swapping pedals if using just your right, could possibly be gained back by having better control. I have used my left for a few years now and I still don't really have a great feeling for the pedal.

I wouldn't say "so much time," but maybe a couple of tenths at most, but that's only if you're really lagging with your right foot. Most of the top guys are going to be left foot brakers, but you'd be surprised at how many still use their right foot and are still just as quick. While left foot braking does edge out right footing, it's by a slim margin, so it almost becomes more of a preference than some sort of necessity to be fast.

But, hey OP, welcome to GT Planet. You should turn this into a poll, if you don't know how to, just ask. I would be interested in seeing some numbers.

Well, I've always braked with my left foot, I guess I'm used to it though since I drove karts before I drove a proper car. 👍

lol, forgot to say what I use, yes, left foot braking, always, even in PC sims. Button clutch all the way bromigos

Left-foot braking for me. To me, right-foot braking (while racing, at least) only makes sense if you need to use the clutch to change gears, since otherwise you wouldn't be able to downshift while braking.

Left foot braking.. For me on a game is different an to be up their you need to left foot but in real world the gap from braking to acceleration is bigger, heel an toe is also very good for balance so it very's when your braking you'll maybe need to be changing so you'll need your left for clutch then right for braking :)
