I'm going to buy a new guitar soon and these two beauties are the final ones I'll have to choose between.

Which one do you like more?

Number 1.

Both appear similar to a Stratocaster, so they've got that going for them, but while I wouldn't care for either upon my own selection, #2 looks like vomit on a marble countertop. The transition from purple to greenish-blue on #1 works well with the vortex look.

Like for example Telecaster and commencing shredding with hi-gain on it?

Apart from kidding, I am a noob as far as floyd rose goes but I'm determined to learn it inside out. I was tired not having a floyd rose (let alone no tremolo at all since the bar tore apart with half remaining stuck inside the bridge!) with my first guitar, so I'm going to utilize it to the fullest. Most of all I like the prospect of doing vibrato with it, you know the sweet kind where you go flat and then back to the note again which is impractical with fingers as you have to pre-bend each time. Along with the usual dive bombs and other extravaganzas of course, used with taste. :)

Well, I'm surprised nobody liked the green Ibanez yet, because it's my first choice. Not only the specs are better than the Jackson but I have a soft spot for maple fingerboards, I dunno it just inspires me more.

If the specs are better and it inspires you more, I don't even think you need a poll as you already have your answer. Everyone is different so don't bother worrying about what others think.

I like the ibanez more, a brighter neck for one thing and I've always like their neck layouts better for playability.

It's also a Prestige, meaning it's made in Japan. I hope I will post new pictures of my own soon in the "Have a guitar" Why not show us!" thread! :D

Definitely the green one. One looks like a screwed up dip. The other has character.

Just don't play the green one unless you're really good.

Hahaha, true. I can play alot of Moore, Satriani, Vai, Petrucci, some Malmsteen and lately I'm into guys like Abasi. But yeah, I have to learn how to use a floyd from the ground up.

Well Jackson is made by Fender so...there's that, and the reason it looks like a Strat is due to it being a Charvel which is also owned by Fender through Jackson. All of which had the design of a Stratocaster from the onset just modified for more heavy playing and really that has more to do with it then being owned by Fender.

Anyways I don't get what the question is really asking from the OP, why are you limited to these two guitars? Are you just wanting our advice on the color or overall instrument? And so on.

Just which is prettier. My budget and taste led me to these two guitars. I have to admit initially I liked the Jackson more because the Ibanez seemed too fancy but as Omnis said the Ibanez has more character, even if it's more kitch for some. (I love the maple fingerboard though.)

I'd go with the Ibanez to be honest. If you wanted a Fender you'd have gone a fender and not Jackson. Not saying Jackson are horrible but the Ibanez would do the job better because that's their way of things. Now if it was an original Jackson from like the 80s or 90s I'd snatch it up, but yeah I'd say the Ibanez is better.

As for color I'd go with the blue.

As I want a superstrat it's difficult to go wrong with an Ibanez Prestige. I'll playtest it these days and hopefully it will be awesome.

I tried the Ibanez yesterday... What an awesome neck, they call it Wizard for something afterall!

The bridge wasn't set correctly so it went out of tune with heavy divebombs, but really for the array of expression that a floyd rose () gives I don't find fixed bridges appealing at all.

It's down to how it plays for you rather than how it looks. None of us except you can juge them on anything but looks. If that's how you feel I'd recommend you buy the green one.

Might I suggest more practice? Practice vibrato on an acoustic, that's a good way to get finger strength up ;)

Dude, don't worry I do Malmsteen vibrato on 10s. The point with the vibrato bar is that you can do the sweet Brian May vibrato without needing to pre-bend the note a half step, also it feels cooler. Plus playing with the vibrato bar looks cool like Gilmour or Gary Moore in his superstrat era.

Fair point ... as you were :D

The guy that custom painted it said he was going for that look of Vai JEMs circa 1990 that looked like this:

While it's not bad I like his design better

It would be out of phase to try out for a jazz or roots gig with that JEM, like they would kick you out before you played one note (or should I say one divebomb) at the audition.. :D
