I'm looking forward to this coming out, but I am fortunate to have all 3 platforms connected to my rig.. but which will be the best platform to get the game on, and what will derive the best experience? I'm not looking to start an xbox vs pc vs ps3 war, just seeking some thoughts on the f1 2010 game.

I guess on the PC, as it's a more open platform there could be more options to get it running well (hardware updates.. lets stay away from mod's unless codemasters allows this), generally there's the option to run at 1080p resolutions if the hardware will support it. and external outputs to wheel addons such as the leo bodnar f1 wheel display?

The PS3 has an awesome capability .. the videos for GT5 show that to be the case. But I don't see many games being anything other than 720p output.

The Xbox also has some great capabilities, however much as I enjoy forza3 I feel the graphics quality is not what I'd expect these days..( although once I'm racing I forget the lack of anti aliasing etc!) don't know if that's a forza limitation or a platform issue given they've both been around a while.

since I have limited experience on the consoles.. (forza 3 is the only game I have on my xbox360, GT5P and GT4 likewise on my PS3, almost everything since geoff cramonds gp2 on the PC)

I'm asking for folks to share there thoughts on this one.

Also I'm interested with online mode and driving with more disciplined racers :) So would one platform offer that more than others?

What do you think?

What have I left out?

What makes for the best experience in your view.. does the platform offer any other advantages, or will the game features be identical across all the platforms?

Cheers

Maurice

I'd say that PC may be the best overall choice if your PC is good.
I personally stay away from XBL. So many annoying moments on Forza 2/3.
I'm going to be using the PS3 for F1, I actually ended up selling my 360.
GT5 + F1 only available on PS3, Thats all I care about xD

PC will obviously offer higher resolution graphics and a higher frame rate. So if your PC can handle it and graphics quality is important to you, go for PC.

PC + PS3 will have more options for steering wheels. As far as I know, only the official 360 wheel and the great but expensive Fanatec wheels will work with the 360. PS3 and PC can support many (all?) of the Logitech wheels.

I think the 360 and PS3 games should be very similar, perhaps near-identical. The difference comes down to personal preference. If you are using a pad, which pad do you prefer. If you have a wheel (or intend to buy one), which one is it and is it compatible with the platform version? XBox Live may offer a bit more flexibility for multiplayer (i.e. the cross-game invites offered by Live), but I expect the core multiplayer experience once in the game (number of cars online, game options etc.) to be the same.

I will be buying for the PS3 as my PC is pretty old and I don't have a 360.

Personally I'm stuck between the Xbox and PS version.

I have a DFGT and Xbox wheel. I'd like to know if I can alter the degrees of steering on my DFGT.

DFGT is the better wheel but using 900degs of steer will be a chore. I'm hoping the game has onboard options for this.

Xbox wheel, whilst inferior is locked to 270* or something, so inherently trumps the DFGT off the bat. So to speak.

Decisions, Decisions.

yup thats true. codemasters made dirt 2 and it looked identical on the ps3 and xbox 360 which is no easy task so i would feel comfortable getting f1 2010 on either console.

PC games can both gain from and suffer from people modding them. So for every add-on someone offers to improve some part of the game, another hacks into things and destroys the validity of, say, leaderboards or whatever. One step forward, two steps back.

Leaderboard hacks are getting harder though, through all the online authentication and stuff around nowadays

I think PC will give the best experience, having the greatest capacity for graphical power and peripherals that you can use.

Sadly, Codemasters are notorious for making their PC games extremely hard to mod :P

I'll probably get the PS3 first and the PC later. Doesn't hurt to have both. PC games generally drop price pretty quickly.

PC probably has the best performance, but if you don't have a steering wheel, it's going to be an interesting experience - space is accelerate, ctrl is brake, A is gear up, Z is gear down and the left and right keys turn the car. Hopefully you'll be able to customise controls, because I prefer A as accelerate, Z as brake and shift and control to change gears since I prefer to do it with my right hand with the option of using the left if you're mid-corner.

It already is cheaper than the consoles versions. U$ 35.99 on Steam during pre-order, U$ 39.99 after release.

I'll play it with my Logitech MOMO wheel, but I also have a regular DualShock2 controller plugged on the PC through a USB adapter which I use to play arcade racing games and others.

Controllers, like the 360 Controller, can be used with the PC version.
Depending on your rig the PC version will be the best. There's a chance it'll run at 60fps (not 30), have the best graphics and possibly be moddable. But really you have to have a pretty good PC for it to be significantly better than the console versions.
I will, however, be getting it on Steam. I'm pre-loading it right now!!

Haven't yet decided if I'm getting it... it will be PS3 or nothing as my PC isn't really up to it (don't have the money for the upgrade and heyt i have a ps3 so im not spending more to play something slightly differently)..

Thanks for the pics....
Out of each set..

The PS3 picks looks like the haven't set the white option thing in the PS3 menyu properly hence it looks too white
THe PC looks to bright, and the 360 looks good

PS3 again too light
360 fine
but the lines on the williams win it for the PC

3rd, PS3 too white again massive error half way through the screen
Mechanics looks a bit dark and strong blue in the 360, the real mechanics look more faded and less 'brand new blue suit look'
PC wins with best 'real' look without seeming bright or white

PS3 too blood white settings but the backgorund is good
360, hole behind air box looks a bit fake, closest horizontel pole blocky
PC its glowing the blacks glow so you can see the floor, the whites glow like angels...

Finally
PS3 too white and tyres rather light and shiny for being used, nice background, nice looking track
360 much better suspension colour and texture, might be harder compound but still looks darker and alot better
PC i don't like the suspension much... otherwise good

Just my thoughts...

I would love to see the PS3 with settings correctly chosen.. it really does make a great effect with the PS3.. I think it was assassin's creed 2 that also had that problem or maybe uncharted 2.. something like that..

PC is better, there's no question about it.

But there's next question: to capture a picture from PC is very easy, press PrtScr button and voila, the picture is here. But picture capture in PS3 ... that's a question how did they capture it?

If ytou look at the award on the PS3 it is also too white.. so it's clearly a setting issue not a game related issue.

The question is what does it look like when the settings haven't been done by an idiot

PC version will be the best, since there is a file with dx11 in the steam download to be patched for dx11. I have noticed in the ai menu a catchup file. But, the PC has GWFL, which is the same as Xbox Live. You can also view all of the contollers supported in the game in the actionmap folder. In one of the folders there is an anticheat file.

I'm in almost the same position as gslooney, though I'm just trying to decide between the PS3 and the PC versions. I've got solid PC hardware, but my only reservation is that I want to be able to participate in events with GTPlanet members. Am I correct in assuming online racing won't be possible between the different platforms, and most people here will opt for a PS3 copy?

PS3 version is top of the pre-order charts on almost every retail site here in UK.

Anyway, the PS3 version on those comparison shots have been altererd. Look at the one with the trophy notification in the corner. It should be razor sharp, but it has been slightly blurred in that pic.

Fishy.

I''m probably getting the PS3 version. I imagine most people here will just 'cause it's a site dedicated to a PS3 exclusive series. I want to race with the people here, so my choice seems easy.

It looks like the difference between HDMI and Composite cables to me...

ugh, I hope the PS3 version does not have blurring effect...where did I see a comparison of images from PS3,Xbox, and PC? I need to dig that up. I think the ps3 had more blur than the other two...but I hope I was only imaging that bit!

I can't make my mind up which version (360 or PS3). I have more friends on the 360 but I also own a G25. Having said this im still undecided whether to buy this game. If they had released this a month earlier it would of been a definate purchase but I know for a fact I will only play this until GT5 is out.

I have both a 360 and a PS3, but due to only having a G25 and no 360 compatible wheel I went for the PS3 version.

Even if the 360 version might look slightly better, it's no compensation for having to play with a pad.

You may as well rent it. Hardly worth buying for only a months play.
