Which tune change is most important?

Wats up guys, scenerio is this....say you have a stock veh @ 450pp, but you want to compete in 500pp races. You cant do every single tune on the vehicle, because it will put you over the 500 pp limt. Which tune do you make first and from then on. Ex. do you work on the exhaust sys first (pipe/cat converter/manifold) or intake system or weight reduction. Ive also heard of people max tuning and just adjust the power limiter down. Thanks for your input.....

RPM increasing mods.
Engine Stages, ECU.
Weight reduction is nice, because you can put it back on with ballast in a place you prefer.

You can add springs, tires, lsd, transmission, etc without effecting pp and it will make a huge difference right there. I would suggest get all performance parts except any engine stuff because you can always remove the other stuff if it doesn't work as well while engine is permanent. Weight reduction is good to do too because even if you add the weight back you can now change the position of where that weight goes with the ballast and make the car more stable.

I always drive the car stock from the dealership or GTAuto before making any changes. Used cars with high miles benefit from both an engine and chassis overhaul and give a good base for tuning.

If I feel the car has decent HP but drives heavy, then I reduce weight first. If it needs more power then I add intake and exhaust mods first.

So, the most important thing is to know how the base car performs. Second, would be which kind of racing you want to do with it.

There are some parts on some cars that will actually decrease performance from the stock/default settings (unless properly tuned/setup).

By driving the car first and noting your lap times, you can tell if the changes helped or hurt the performance of the car.

Good stuff guys! I really appreciate the feedback to my question! I tend to get stuck sometime when i have a limit on pp and what changes to make to reach the pp limit.....good stuff!

Try to avoid balast and use the power limiter as less as possible. Removing parts is the better way to get a lower PP.

The rest should be answered by the other guys above me :)

Yes the uber power band's derived from "de-tuning" are very bland and un-enjoyable.
Doesn't ever matter what gear you're in, when you shift, just get it somewhere in there...

Plus they can make wheel spin a real pain the the ass.

Also note power adders increasing rpm increase your PP, so the same car will need lower HP figures if the power adders add rpm, just discovered this with the FF shootout.
