This is something I'm always interested to hear from people: which driving view do you use, and why? Do you use the same view in Shift that you use for other games, such as GT5P or PC sims?

I'm using cockpit in Shift. I've really made an effort to use it in GT5P, but I just couldn't get used to it and didn't really like it that much. However, in Shift, I've used cockpit view since I've got the game and I'm loving it. The way they've positioned the camera in the cockpit (about where the driver's head should be) really makes it very immersive, and with the bumpiness of the tracks, it really does feel like your inside the car.

Also, they got a lot of the little details right. On some of the cars--such as the McLaren F1--you can see the digital trip-meter on the dash, and it actually keeps track of how many miles you've driven in the car--pretty cool. Also, in some of the cars, you can actually see the driver's feet on the pedals and if you pay attention, when you press the throttle or release it, the driver in the car matches your actions.

I'm using the cockpit view, really didn't think about changing it! Shifts cockpit view is alot better then GT5 Prologues. At least comparing the Ford GT.

Since games started incorporating cockpit view, that's all I have been using. Once in a while Ill switch to the classic bumper cam, but cockpit is where it's at.

Edit: And I accidentally voted bumper cam...:grumpy:

Cockpit all the way, only time I use the bonnet view is why I need to learn a new track and need the extra sight to see exactly where to brake.

I use the Hood/Bonnet and Cockpit view in Career Mode and the Chase Cam Online because it gives me a better field of view and makes it easier to avoid driving down on someone beside you.

I use the cockpit view, because it seems that it's the only view that works well with the game in a way.... I don't use GT5P's cockpit view as I can't drive with it properly and online is a nightmare when you are beside people into turn 1 at Suzuka. But Shift's online is OK with the cockpit view, I think this might be due to the fact that the races are no where near as close as the races in GT5P.

Mostly hood cam for me. I tried bumper, but in Shift it's really at the height of the bumper, so it's a bit too low to estimate certain corners.

in this game I use cockpit... It just feels right for this game... Bumper cam is too low... havent tried the others...

Cockpit.
In one of the recent developer interviews, don't remember which game, allthough I think it was for Shift. I heard the expression First-Person-Racer, never heard that before, but pretty good term I think.
I really hope GT5 will be an excellent FPR.

Also, in some of the cars, you can actually see the driver's feet on the pedals and if you pay attention, when you press the throttle or release it, the driver in the car matches your actions.

Well it is the guys from GTR2 afterall, I'm glad they kept such detail. Try left foot braking ;)

Also, on a car wth a manual box, the gearstick actually goes into the correct gate with each shift.

Bumper for hotlapping, bonnet for tight races, bumper is just way too low to see past other cars. I sit 3m from my TV so cockpit cam just isn't right for me (completely wrong perspective)

Cockpit-view 100%! This really is the most impressive thing about Shift. I love the reflections off the inside of the windshield - in combination with the amazing sound I feel like I am actually inside a car! 👍

How come no side-ways view though?

I really miss the view from FC, where from the dash cam, the "look-back" view showed you the whole of your car - not "realistic", but the best way to give situational awareness in an instant, given you have no peripheral vision.

Bonnet. I use cockpit view once a while, but I found the game runs less fluid than bumper and bonnet view, and somehow I still can't stand the blur.
