Which wheelstand should I buy?

I am currently using a Rennsport wheelstand V2, but feel it is time for an upgrade.

I know many would advise me to go full rig set up, but I feel a wheelstand is a better fit, which would allow me to put it aside when not in use. I do my gaming primarily in the family room.

So far, I've come to like the GT Omega Steering Wheelstand and the Steadiplay Controller Stand. The latter is quite pricey, but I was impressed after watching the review by insidesimracing.tv.

If people have any opinions on these two or any other wheelstands it be greatly appreciated.

FYI, I am running a CSR Elite wheel with CSPs and have recently purchased a TH8RS as my shifter. I'd also like thank Mr. Basher. I look forward to receiving my SFA1.

I have a wheelstandpro v2 with a g27. It is a fabulous stand. Allowing me to easily store the wheel in the corner of my room. It is very stable and extremely good value in my opinion. Build quality is great and so is the company. Delivery was alsdo very good. Spoke to other wheelstandpro v2 users and not heard a bad word.

Thanks for your input. Though the Wheelstandpro v2 looks to be the same design of the Rennsport, which I currently have. Is there a big difference between the two?

Also, I am leaning away from wheel stands with poles between the legs. I am looking to get something that's a more open for my legs to move around. Also, the pole is a bit of a pain when squeezing by to get in and out of my chair.

Don't know that stand, sorry.

Check out my sig to see what I did with my wheelstand pro. You could try something similar with your current stand and end up with a modular race rig.

WheelStandPro V2 is similar to Rennsport Wheelstand with the exception that the pole can be tilted at any angle compared to 2 fixed angles for the Fanatec one.

Personally, I'm waiting for Playseat to release the "Challenge" as announced at E3 this year. It was supposed to be released this Fall (any time now) though it looks like it's heading either towards X'mas or even next year. It's basically an adjustable foldable chair with no center post. Very nice rig. I don't have a bucket seat though. Instead, I am using an Xrocker pro series pedestal chair. Not specifically built for sim racing but I like it due to having speakers, bass, and rumble in the chair itself.

My chair is a bit higher so my legs are a bit more upright. The pedals actually need to come in close for me to reach it. I'm not sure if my chair would accommodate your rig design.

I have the Rennsport V2. This can also be put in any angle. I'd actually prefer for the pole to be fixed in place, because the tightening knob often becomes loose and the pole moves when racing sometimes.

Never heard of this Playseat "Challenge" before. Is this a new wheelstand being developed?

The Rennsport Wheelstand is designed to have the center post either at 90 degrees or at 110 degrees, depending on using the knob right or left of the center post. If you use it at "any angle" you don't use it, as it was designed for. This may cause your "loosening" ussue.

I see, I guess that explains it.

I think the Rennsport V2 is a great stand. Very compact and sturdy. My only gripe really is the center post. Also, in my case, the base panel the wheel attaches to is slightly off angle leaning to the left. For these reasons, I think it is time to buy another wheelstand.

For anyone interested, I just got an email back from Steadiplay and it would cost $125 to ship to Canada. Not including duties and taxes on top of the $300 for the stand itself. This would come up $500. This is way too much, so this stand is crossed off.

So it looks like I will buy the GT Omega. It's actually cheaper than the Rennsport and about $200 with shipping and taxes already included. If anyone has any opinions with about this product, let me know.

Check out the RKD Mini Rig from the maker of the Gran Turgismo DFGT Paddles. I have one and it is a quality piece of equipment. Very adjustable and is comfortable for use on a couch or sitting in a rocker chair. Seems similar to the steadyplay.

I was looking at that rig, the look and price is just right. Unfortunately it doesn't have an attachment for the shifter to be installed lower on the rig. Otherwise, that would have been my purchase.

That may be something you want to email him about. Maybe he could come up with a solution for you or in the future.

See my RWS setup on my profile page. I extended the functionality of the RWS with an 8020 Seat Module from GranStand, along with some shifter mounts I made from 8020.

I have 2 sets of shifter mounts, one high for the sequential near the wheel, the other down near the seat for the H-shifter, both can quickly be changed out from left to right depending on car.

Edit: Forgot this link to a review of the GransStand Seat Module I did a while back.

I also did a non-desctructive hard mount of CSPs to the RWS, which can be seen via my signature link.

It has worked really well for me for the last year, but I am now almost done with my full 8020 rig, so I will be selling the RWS and GranStand seat base shortly.
