I'm quiet convinced besides the PPs it is exclusiveley down your connection speed, and, IMO more so to your location (distance to server).
*Side note off topic: PPs should not be an issue, at least not in the events run here at GTPlanet, since it is requested to run a specific PP level ("not more, not less"...)*
PP topic thus excluded here's my experience: eg Crazytortise and mysef, both located in South Africa, are ALWAYS together in the back row. We are average to maybe (sometimes) good drivers, we win some, we loose more. But it does make no difference whatsoever whether we are in a grid full of 12 RX-8s, same tyres, same PPs, we are at the back. C and R are quiet far away from each other so I exclude the alphabet as well. If I happen to end up in a random race, eg. with the 512 on S3s up against a bunch of Clios on R Tyres, I'm still at the back!
When I started running the 512 on S3s at Suzuka, I barely finished a race: I still get placed in the back.
Theres been events where I could manage wins or podium positions often: I still get placed in the back....
So with that I'd tend to exclude your race performance as well.
In essence: your connection speed AND even more your location are the only factor, same PPs given. I've got a 4mb line (not as good as in Asia with 100mb lines, but good enough and still better then standard 1024 DSL which still is in use a lot as I believe. Still I'm last. => Distance to the server or rather your ping/latency is key!
So: just get used to it or rather learn to enjoy it. When I started online racing I got frustrated from always being at the back, but then I discovered its much more fun to hunt than to be hunted. A 3rd place from 12th is so much more satisfying than hanging onto your pole position (IMO) 👍
I agree with you sir 100%. Nothing like hunting down you prey and attacking will be seeing you in the back of the grid tonight in the Cali 👍
If everybody has 800PP in a 800PP for example, faster cars are in the back. A Ford GT with 800PP will be more in the back of the grid but a viper SRT-10 with the same amount of PP will be more in the front. That's what I've noticed since I'm playing online. (8 Months)
