Probably the most commonly asked question in this part of the site...
GTPlanet operates an Approval Queue system as a method of combatting spammers. Every new user's first post - and subsequent ones if they have not yet had a post approved - will be submitted to the queue and a message will be displayed to the user to tell them that this has occurred.
At this point your message has been submitted and gets a post number, the appropriate place within the thread you posted it (or, if you posted a thread, within the forum you posted it) and the appropriate timestamp. It just doesn't show up to normal members.
What to do now
* Wait
* Post as normal
What not to do now
* Post the same message again
* Post the same message again again
* Post the same message again with slightly different wording
* Post "omfg why arent my posts showing"?
* Make a thread in here asking "omfg why cant i post"
Once in the queue, posts have to be manually checked and approved (or not) by a moderator. We're notified of posts in the queue by a big, shiny note at the top of every page that says:
We can't miss it. Genuinely, we can't. But there's not an infinite number of us and, as well as being moderators, we're interested in this site because we actually like to post on it too. There's in excess of 500 new posts a day passing through the queue and not that many staff. It might take a while for your post to be approved and, as if by magic, appear in the forum where you left it.
But if 24 hours have gone by and your post hasn't appeared, you can assume that it hasn't been approved or, more to the point, it has been deleted. There's a number of reasons why your post might be deleted but here's the primary ones:

But if 24 hours have gone by and your post hasn't appeared, you can assume that it hasn't been approved or, more to the point, it has been deleted. There's a number of reasons why your post might be deleted but here's the primary ones:
- You're retreading old ground. GTP is the largest GT site on the internet and we've probably seen both your question and answer before. There's a search box in the top-right corner of every page on the site, so look for it first. Usually a moderator will leave you a note on your Visitor Messages if this is the case, but not always.
- You've quoted and responded to a post that has been deleted. This is quite easy to detect, as the post you'll have quoted will have vanished too.
- Flamebait. We may be a GT site primarily, but our members like all games - GT, Forza, NFS, F1 and even, shock of shocks, non-racing games. Visit http://www.forzaplanet.net/ and see what happens... We don't like overenthusiastic anti-game bias, so if your first posts contain inane crap like "Failza", "Flopza", "Soony", "Micro$oft" or imaginative insults based on the omission of letters from NFS: Shift, we're not likely to want you here.
- Insults. You don't add anything to any conversation by calling another member a trumpet-spleened loinosaurus, and if you don't add anything we'll pass on your post altogether, thanks. Besides, you'll have just ticked a little box that says you read, agree to and will abide by the Acceptable Use Policy which says - and I paraphrase - "don't call other people trumpet-spleened loinosauruses".
- Speaking of the AUP, we expect members to type as if they're trying to communicate ideas and information in an intelligent and informative manners. We expect them not to type as if they're attempting to get as many letters onto the screen in as short a time as possible by smashing their face into the keyboard repeatedly. Proper capital letter use is required by the AUP. Text speak is forbidden by the AUP. Yes it may be "only the internet" and "not an English exam", but it's our bit of the internet and you just said you'd agree to abide by our rules. It's considerably more stupid to say you've agreed to the rules than it is for us to expect you to stick to them...
