Why did I get just 7 A-Spec points?

I just raced my BMW V12 LMR on the Super Speedway 150 mile endurance event. I checked Smallhorses's guide on endurance, but even there he got 30 A-Spec points with his Toyota 88C-V, which is far more powerful than my V12!

I ran my car completely stock, R2s on the front, R1s on the rear, and NO gearbox, downforce or suspension tuning at all. the order of cars finishing was:

1st: BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99 0.55.23.542, fastest lap: 00.00.29.023
2nd: MINOLTA Toyota 88C-V Race Car '89 +1 lap
3rd: Jaguar XJR-9 Race Car '88 -Did not finish in time
4th: BMW V12 LMR Race Car '99 +4 Laps
5th: AMG CLK-GTR Race Car '98 -Did not finish in time
6th: Chevrolet Camaro Race Crap '01 -Did not finish in time

so... what did I do wrong? was the lineup too weak? is the V12 a monstrous overpowered beast in player's hands? I wonder why I got just 7 points, even though Smallhorses got 30 with racing a Minolta :indiff:

R4/R5 tires killed your A-Spec total. Try running R1/R2s and see what your point payout is.

...R5/R4s are Super Hard/Hard Racing tires, right? ...I didn't just make a 🤬 big mistake now? :dunce::dunce::dunce:

R-5 = SUPER Soft
R-4 = Soft

You need R-1s on the front for max points. Rear tyres don't matter....O.G.

thanks for clearing that up O.G. :D seems I did make the mistake :dunce::dunce::dunce: *facepalm*

anyway, i'll edit the results then that I used R1s for the rear, and R2s for the front. how much difference does that make, by the way? the R2 tires being on the front?

Not too many I'm sure. Instead of running it again for maybe 23 points, why don't you check the 200 points forum. I think a worn out Mazda 737 (NOT sure of the designation, but it's the one that won LeMans about 20 years ago) w/minor tuning is enough to win it...O.G.

the 737B? I got a worn out black version waiting in my garage to be used, guess i'll buy some Super Hard and Hard Racing tires for it. first I have to complete this endurance race filled with slow tiny roadsters. the Roadster 4H Endurance. fun to drive it around Tsukuba though, lasting more than 40 laps on one set of tires :D

Yep, that's the right Mazda! 👍 Good Luck w/Roadster Enduro. I drove it many years ago & am in no hurry to do it again...O.G.

He means the Mazda 787B

Its a great car to drive almost anywhere. The Audi R8 '01 is also excellent.

As for your low A-spec points, having a Chevy Camaro Race Car in the lineup also brought down your A-spec points (as well as the soft tires as previously mentioned). The game looks at all the cars when scoring the points, not just the best/strongest car.

Also, the game only scores against the tires that you start the race on. Its completely ok to change your tires to softer tires at the first pit stop, and this doesn't reduce the A-spec points awarded.

Respectfully,

My PS2 is out in my workshop & I was quoting from memory. 787B is indeed the proper designation...O.G.

egh... same here. quick thinking so I could finish the race just added a B to 737. I won the race in a stunningly slow 194, 1 minute 10-ish seconds, laps! didn't get the RX-7 in the color I wanted. Orange instead of the black with white roof :indiff:
