why do people hate cars based on movies for example?

Seriously? Just because some stupid characters drive, it's reason to hate?
Some people (would apperantly) like to make fun of me becuase I like Jaguar F-Type because of it's role in last FF movie or James Bond series

its beatiful. I wonder what they would say once they hear it or see it in real life. Still waitin for SVR too

I never thought it was a thing before :P.

I do reckon the Jaguar is a beautiful car but that is primarily subjective.

You see it all the time in the Cool Wall threads on here. "Uncool because it was in F&F". "Uncool because it was in Gone in 60 Seconds". It isn't the car's choice where it's featured.
Oh, that's pretty stupid reasoning IMO.

Because they haven't reached puberty yet?
Or because of puberty

also I live in a place were german cliche generic cars are favorised because of their so called reliability. Yes Golf MK2 is reliable. But that doesn't mean that every german car is reliable and others aren't. People these days ugh!

Also many tuner cars didn't choose to be riced in F&F movies and NFS and Midnight Club games

Similar instance would be the "I saw this riced before so I don't like it now because of the drivers that do this" crowd.

I'm curious to know how so many younger people became fans of the Buggati Veryon. Was it because of that song or something? :boggled:

I never heard of people hating cars because of movies. But always see people hating cars because they don't like a certain way some people style their cars, then when they see a car done in that style they automatically hate all cars of that model even when they are not done in that style.

We have to look out for the feelings of cars now too?
Maybe look out for feelings of owners, fans and supporters and everybody connected in any way with that one car?

I think that not only cars can affected by negative reputation from movies. Many many things, people and so on get affected. And not just from or because of movies. This thread could be moved to another section because of this.

Seriously Uncool because racecar makes no sense either.
I've never heard of someone hating a car because it was in a movie but it wouldn't surprise me.
The DB10 was only made for a movie but I think it's one of the coolest Astons yet.

Or, you know, don't be so mortally wounded by things people say.

So even though Fast and the Furious dragged a fairly obscure movement of people ruining Japanese cars kicking and screaming into the mainstream; and even though Gone in 60 Seconds has ruined countless 1967 Mustangs in order to make them look like what was already an obviously fake Shelby GT500 (and probably kick started a similar movement of ruining muscle cars in general with lazy Foose-esque design); and even though Dukes of Hazard/Back to the Future/Mad Max/Knight Rider/Herbie has caused idiots to ruin countless Dodge Chargers/DeLoreans/Falcons/Trans Ams/Beetles; no one is supposed to comment that the stock of those cars is so diluted because doing so bothers people who had a legitimate interest in those cars? Even though they should by all rights be just as angry that so many poseurs do buy them just to screw them up so they can pretend they are cooler than they actually are? How do you know that some of the people who take so much issue with movie cars aren't people who had a legitimate interest in them themselves but can't admit it anymore?

In my life, as someone who fell in love with the DeLorean before he ever saw a BTTF film, I've seen only one regular DeLorean. I've seen three that people have butchered by covering them with crap they cobbled together in their garage so it resembled the BTTF one. Those films were a humongous blessing in how they kept such a flawed and failed car so firmly planted in the public mindset 35 years after it went out of production, but it's ridiculous to just pretend that the curse side of that same coin doesn't also haunt the car.

Seriously Uncool because racecar makes no sense either.
Sure it does. It's only been explained probably 3 dozen times now. You don't have to agree with it, and there are situations that I don't either, but to dismiss the entire concept out of hand is silly.

Taking this line of reasoning, one should never be critical of any car, as there is bound to be a fan, enthusiast, or someone in some way tied to the car. From things as common as the Golf right through to the Youabian Puma.

It being explained countless times means it very much can. Refusing to accept the reasoning is another matter entirely.

I have nothing against any kind of criticism unless it becomes contradictory and personally abusive.
Thanks to internet we are more than full of such criticism every day.

To me, critisism is fine as long as it's justified. Opinions are whatever also, we have them to answer @SlipZtrEm
Edit: Tornado I know it's been explained eleventy billion times but I still don't find reasoning but it's someone's opinion so I don't mind. And I'd never do that to my DeLorean. Only 900 '83s were built and I'm not gonna molest it. You have to admit though it's one movie car people do like.

Cool Wall =/= Like Wall

Echoing what @SlipZtrEm said, this has also been explained several times.

It depends on the car and it depends on the movie. Bad movies (genuinely bad, exploitative, summer blockbuster "let's just sell tickets" movies with no real substance; not B movies) won't shine a positive light on vehicles the movie focuses on [*cough* *cough* Faster & Furiouser *cough* *cough*].
