Why do the Gr.3 cars vary so much in horsepower?

I understand that there's more to car performance than horsepower; but the cars with less power barely makes up for it with other features. The Subaru WRX for instance has very good stability and cornering speed, but it totally lacks the acceleration and speed overall to be competitive.

Is it balanced this way in order to make it more realistic? Top and low tier cars/teams just like in real life? I just don't see the purpose for some of these cars in the online environment. The upcoming championships will surely be lacking in car variety.

The Subaru may be popular when another track surfaces in Sport Mode. I think there are certain GT3's which are more favorably balanced than others though. The GTR for example dusts everything else on the oval.

True true. Maybe we haven't seen their true potential just yet. I like the Subaru so I hope it gets its moment to shine.
