Why do we think GT6 is coming?

Hi,

I have been reading the forum of late and am starting to see alot of posts regarding GT6 and PS4, or even GT6 on PS3.

Is there cause to believe that GT5 is a done deal where DLC is concerned? There seems to be so much more cars that can be done and given the gestation period of GT5 before it was released, it would be a great disappointment to see GT5 end here. I really hope that PD are still preparing for DLC for the masses.

Is there any motivation for GT6 other than better graphics and processing? Perhaps A-spec is lacking in GT5 but if PD continues to provide DLC content in terms of tracks and cars, I would think there is still alot of fun in GT5.

Anyone shares the same thoughts or are we already so bored with GT5?

I don't believe gt6 is coming anytime soon, not on this current console anyway. Gt5 is just getting going in my opinion, pd will support it with dlc and improve the game until gt6 arrives. Gt5 is getting better with every update and dlc pack, there is loads they can do with this game yet, classic tracks from old gt games, New tracks like Bathurst ect, not to mention patches to improve gameplay ect. Gt5 has got legs in it yet.

This will last around 2 to 3 minutes tops.

Edit on topic. Because they have already done GT 5.

I can't imagine GT6 coming out this gen'. It took them 6 years to do GT5, and even if they finish GT6 in half that time, it's still into the PS4 era, and therefore that 3 year thing goes right out the window. I'm sure it will take them at least 6 years (probably more) to make a game for the PS4.

If anything maybe we'll get some announcement of a game for the Vita. In my opinion, Spa looks an awful lot like something that was made for an upcoming Vita game. Wouldn't surprise me if the Twin Ring Motegi track does as well.

What use are more cars and tracks if there is no specific content to use them with?

To answer the question specifically, Kaz has said two things about GT6. Firstly that it was in development before GT5 was even released and secondly that because GT5 was like a new OS it took a long time, GT6 would just be an addition to that like new programs to the OS and as such wouldn't take as long.

That's why I think we'll have GT6 on PS3 within the next year.

Wait...werent PD at Bathhurst reccording for GT6? there was another video on youtube showing PD cars and PD staff in they're descriptive uniforms, also the helicopter.. No doubt GT6 is coming and i believe it wont take long, since they're going to use the engine from GT5, from GT4 to GT5 PD had to start from scratch, I remember the GT5 or actually GT vision concept trailer it had 16+ cars on the track and they were all standard no premium, I take PD were going to run with that idea but then the fans complained it was not next gen enough, So then PD had to Delete that concept and start from scratch on GT5, No one remembers vision granturismo? that was supposed to be GT5 for PS3...They even had a demo.

Oh come on. Are these things going to be the new Standard vs. Premium threads from a couple years ago, where rather than people just posting in ones that they know exist they just make a new one anyway?

A moratorium would be excellent.

The game was first revealed at E3 2005 under the name Vision Gran Turismo. This was not GT5 as we know it today but simply Gran Turismo 4 (for the PlayStation 2) with more cars on track and PC-rendered footage.

So no.

It's because Kaz said they had already started work on GT6 even before GT5 came out.

That together with him saying that we shouldn't expect to wait more than 2 to 2.5 years for it since the first game on a system is the operating system and that is what takes the real work and the second game is the content rich version.

That would mean we should start hearing things about GT6 quite soon.

Of course 2 to 2.5 years is slightly unlikely :sly: to happen but you never know.

It is A-Spec GT-Mode that is the problem. The very thing that defines GT as GT is the weakest part of the game by a margin.

DLC is not the answer to this since not everyone has broadband and it is not integrated into GT-Mode.

Go to the news page and backtrack to around when GT5 released. This was before you became a member here and were appointed Internet Fact Checker.

"Yes. You won't have to wait as long as you did for GT5. GT5 was basically the creation of a whole new operating system, and developing GT6 will be like adding new applications that run on that new operating system."

That's all he said. He never said 2/2 and a half years.

Well, most games don't get much DLC after a year or so. Even Burnout Paradise, which I think is seen as having great DLC support for a console game, had its last package released 18 months after release. The Fallout games had all of their DLC released within a year. At some point, it makes sense to release a new game instead of continuous DLC.

The only reason I would hope that GT6 is on the PS4 is because I don't want another 3-4 wait after the new system launches. If they could get GT6 out on the PS3 and then GT7 out a year after the PS4 is released, I'd be very happy with that.

No, I don't think there is cause to believe that. Been a while scince last DLC batch, but as we know they have been busy with GT Academy, which this year is bigger than ever. DLC will probably be a part of GT5 for a long time, maybe even until the release of GT6. I certainly hope that GT6 will be more than just new cars and new tracks, so I hope they're not gonna sit around and refuse to release new dlc because they're saving new cars and tracks for GT6.

Is there any motivation for GT6 other than better graphics and processing? Perhaps A-spec is lacking in GT5 but if PD continues to provide DLC content in terms of tracks and cars, I would think there is still alot of fun in GT5.

There is massive room for improvement in GT6. Better graphics and better processing assumes it will come on new generation of consoles, but as the graphics - at least in my opinion - is one of the biggest strengths in GT5 I would be looking more forward to improved gameplay, added features, new game modes, a "motorsports"-mode (longer races, better simulated damage + material fatigue, more opponents on track (assuming a next gen console), enhanced ai (faster, more passionte, add the possibility that they might do mistakes sometimes)), add weather + time to all tracks, free roam, livery editor, overhaul the entire paint chip system, come up with a smart way to incorporate B-spec into A-spec so you could for instance do the endurance races with your B-spec drivers as team-mates (in a second car on track, as well as drivers in your own car), improve B-spec so that you don't need to babysit your driver if you want him to perform well in a race where he doesn't drive an overpowered car, etc.

Edit: Improved track generator, improved rally and nascar, find a way to give the F1 cars some purpose in life, improved online multiplayer functionality, add a "roleplay" mode where you could sign up for or create a racing team (including everything from what kind of racing series you take part in, what car you drive, what sponsors you get (which of course would be shown in the livery of your car and on your racing suit), etc. Maybe they could even add a mode where you're a crewman in the pit and perform "silly" minigames like changing the tires or refueling the car during pitstops, or repair a broken suspension during the 24 hours of Le Mans, etc...). Sometimes I wish I was Kaz, I have so many ideas...

Let's be realistic, it took them 6 years to make GT5 because as you might know it's not easy to program games for PS3 but now that they have experience there isn't any reason for delivering GT6 for PS3 in less time.

GT6 will happen unless the world/global economy come to a complete end.

When it is released and for what system rely mostly on two things.
1. How far Polyphony Digital can take GT5 with updates.
2. The timing of the "PS4" launch.

We know almost nothing about either of these elements so all we can do is guess. GT5 could see many more large updates and DLC packs stretching well into the future, or be very near its final state. Time will tell.

If DLC continues to sell and the PS4 releases next fall, GT6 may end up being a PS4 game some years away. If the PS4 launch is farther out, GT6 may be a PS3 game released a bit sooner. Either way I think GT5 will receive full support for most of this year, if not longer.
