Why does Collector Level stop at 50?

You're right in that it doesn't matter much, because in its current form the collector level is useless. It has little impact on gameplay, and you don't even earn good rewards for increasing your level. It would be different if PD took the time to actually think it out better. They could've say tied it into the daily ticket. So say you'd be level 50 well then no more pointless 1 and 2 star tickets for you, you'd get 3, 4 and 6 star tickets only.

As for why it stops at 50, no one knows except those working at PD.

They did their damndest to make sure no one reaches it this quickly. Thanks to the Tomahawk, we did.
Never touched that thing and I'm on level 49. There shouldn't definitely be a lot more levels if I'm reaching the maximum.

People got to 50 long before then. Reviewers who got it early like Super GT were already there by launch week.

That is a shock to me. I recall being no where near after finishing the menu books and licenses. I'm not sure about pre-release payouts, but it might be easier now after the circuit experience buff.

How many credits did we need to spend for level 50?

The collector level is meaningless anyway since even buying dupes makes it go up; it should have only counted unique cars you obtain. So getting to level 50 doesn’t even feel like an accomplishment. Just another poorly thought out mechanic from PD, which GT7 is plagued with.

Pre-Tomahawk I was ~47, preorder deluxe edition gave $1.5 mil, put a lot of miles on my F150 Raptor and nitrous equipped Mini 🎮😎👍

They could’ve used this for special rewards/tickets, and further left it unlimited for late/end game use. But no.

It really seems like in the last 3 or 4 games PD has made they left the campaign design and balancing to the last few months of development… which makes me wonder what kind of thought they’re putting into the game. It’s like they’re just building cars and tracks and squeezing out how pretty they can make them look, and then… what? There’s less and less “game” every time.

Why at 50 well, is arbitrary, but in principle it doesn't matter either.. they could have stopped at level 10 and adjusted all the limits in the game to it.
But better as it is now than if the cap is say 100 and to reach level 100 you have to own 95 or even 100% of the cars available in the game. Can you imagine the storm of trouble when you also have to have all the cars to reach the highest level of collectors? Well I think I can imagine it and I say it would be devastating if you really had to collect all the cars!!!

Yeah, but...we don't and there's no tangible reward or reason to do that.
It's just another pointless piece of filler, like music rally, to make it seem like there is more content to this game than there is.
Top Trumps is for collecting, Gran Turismo should be for racing.

Although I still play it, precisely because I like to compete with my friends and other drivers, I jokingly no longer call it GT7, i.e. Gran Turismo 7, but BT7 for Bug Turismo 7. Because somehow, at least it feels like there are more and more errors and shortcomings that I don't think are that great anymore. The useless Lv50 collector level is really the least of my complaints.... It would have been smart for PD to only limit the collector level at level 1000.
And then to award per level 1/10 of the level as price savings when buying cars and tuning parts. ALL players would have something to do for years (especially if you could prevent AFK grind) and it would at least have a small use to keep increasing the level.

We can compare it to Forza Motorsport 7's collector level. In that game, unlocks actually stop very early. Each new level, up to around 5, gives the player access to rarer or more expensive cars. The system is flawed, yes. It's over almost immediately. However, despite unlocks finishing around level 5, the only limit is at the amount of collector score the cars total to, because duplicates do not give the player more score (with few exceptions).

GT7 then could have unlocks stop at around 20-something as it currently does, then still allow players to level up far beyond. The rewards also didn't need to end where they did. Higher collector levels could still provide better roulette tickets beyond level 20. They could even add the ability to buy invite-only cars without invites at a high level, if they're so set on keeping the invite system.
