Hello guys , I have a wierd question kinda , As the title says "why im being as me but not an another person "

it is really weird actually to think of it but really it bugged me since i was a child so

what do you think

The mind body problem doesn't seem to have a solution any time soon, so it's not easy to answer your question. You just happen to be the brain you are and as such you only get to be attached to your own sensory organs and not someone else's.

EDIT

I think this thread belongs in the Opinions forum. You might get a better discussion if you ask a mod to move it there.

So you want to be me? But if you're then me, who do I become? Kristen Bell?

I'm confused. And about ready to lock this up unless you explain a bit more.

I think the OP wrote "an other" and then corrected (ish) to "an another".

I think he's saying; Why is he him, and not someone else. Why isn't he, Kristen Bell?

The answer is that he thinks therefore he is.

He can only conceive of himself as an organism (as touched on by @Exorcet ) because he is the sentience within that organism.

It seems to plain to say that if he was someone else then he would be them, but he would be :)

Helpful "Who Am I?" link, helps understand why one isn't who one is not.

Ergo: Why am I me, but not someone else?

The answer is simple. If you were not you, there would be no you to observe yourself being you.

Simple. Before you were born, you were a bodyless soul, roaming where ever souls roam. Two people, your future parents, decided to get a baby and the idea became a fact. Nine months later, a baby was born and due to certain circumtances or rules only known to the spirit/soul world, you were drawn to this baby. You as a soul took possession of this baby, incarnated so to speak, and became one being, namely you and not someone else.

:D

Alright i get it because It,s how life is so

Im feeling That Im maybe a silly to ask a question like that so i want the moderaters to lock the thread i think it would be better

1st relm problems.

Dude needs to listen to some Nirvana, if you think life is weird, try understanding what Kurt Cobain is talking about.

Why are you you? Guess what? You're not. You're me. Now wash you face you dirty bum! (I can insult myself (an another me, legitimately, right?).

Hmmmm.....deep. Way to scramble my last few remaining brain cells prior to the weekend there Famine.

And along those very same lines, Can two digital mirrors, placed just so, create a digital infinity, and is it really happening?

"Why Im being me and not an another person"

Choices, choices, choices . . . . comes full circle doesn't it, Celicaas?

Two members of the moderating panel have already visited (and posted in) this thread so your choice now of closing the thread overiding your choice of daring to ask the question must be known; no cause to retreat - do keep engaged in the dialogue till they feel the need to honour your request.

First - let me try to decipher the question.

How, myself, would I have asked this of the Man on the Mountain if I didn't speak his language? Would he, as the the All-Knowing Man on the Mountain know mine?
Being not the Man on the M., let me try to pick your brains about the Question:

Why Im am being me and not an another person [sic] (?)

not an another person

This is obviously a mis-translation of the language you are using to try and communicate an idea - because the idea doesn't make sense to the regular users of the language.

It would be usually - not another person - or - not an other person; both basically meaning someone else other than the first person(s) mentioned.

Examples:
There was another person who came dressed like me. (You went to a costume party dressed as a pirate and some else also came dressed as a pirate.)

There was not another person who came dressed like me. (The other side of the story.)

There was an other person also involved in the crime that we were unaware of.

There was not an other person in the room - you were hallucinating.

The last is more an archaic form of conversation - we would usually say today: There was no other person in the room - you were hallucinating.

There are subtle shades of context between 'an other' and 'another' - and I'm taking it that what you may have meant here was:
Why am I me and not an other? - which is a whole different question. If you were speaking, you would even stress the words 'me' and 'other' giving it some tonal inflection that would set the words apart:
As in:

Why am I me and not an other?

As in why am I me and not Justin Beiber? (One would say 'karma', some others will confirm you're lucky. Yet another might question your sanity.)

Or:
Why am I me (human, frail, mortal, etc, etc) and not whatever is the opposite?

Or:
Why am I me and not a bird or rock or plankton? Why am I me, (black, white, red or yellow) and not an other?

Am I right? Please confirm this if you decide to go on.

Thank you.

My mind has just been blown...

...from the gun I stuck in my mouth after reading this. WTF?!?!

It's not silly, the original wording was hard to understand. There was a language barrier. People are over that now, so if you try again with more clarity you might get a discussion.
