Why is __ car not included and __ is?

First of all, this is a general opinion/speculation type of thing that I've always wondered about GT.

So, in GT PSP there are cars that really X that I never understood why they made it... (I am aware this is the GT5 forum, its to speculation whether these cars will or will not make it to the final game, or why won't they.)

Example? Nissan pao, Chrysler PT cruiser.

Isn't the Miata the same as the Eunos?

On other notes, the Nissan Primera made it to GT, but where's a car like the Sentra? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Sentra has been one of Nissan's best and most popular models. It sells like hotcakes in Colombia (even still the B13)...

Thoughts?

Never heard of the Sentra... knew about the Primera more than 10 years ago when I was quite young.

90's cars are where it's all at! Most of my favourite cars are 90's. Maybe their favourites too.

I have zero problems with cars like the PT Cruiser(turbo model I would hope) being in the game but I agree with the odd exclusion of cars like the SE-R Sentras or the MazdaSpeed Protege and Mazda 3/Axela. I find it even more odd that the PSP list seems to be missing some really odd cars like the new Lancer GSR/Evo and 2009 WRX wagon or sedan or even the new 2010 mazdaspeed 3.

I don't know what a Nissan Pao is but I know what a PT cruiser is, and they should put another chrysler car at it's place because it's just ugly and it sucks.

Nissan Pao's are cars which make you laugh once you add a spoiler, race wheels and nitrous. It was quite fun on GT4. Just look on google images :)

I want to know why they have very few current cars, the game is mostly 90's models

That is something that bothers me in some way. I like cars from the 90´s but i also like the current ones. Specially in race cars.

Looking at the GT PSP car list, which may represent a big part of the GT5 one's, i see the same Corvette C5R (race car) from 2000. Its been in there since GT3 at least (and allways with the same livery). Where is the C6R? C6R was already racing by the time GT4 was released. Will we get the same DTM Mercedes from 2000? Thats nice but wheres the 2002, 2004 & 2006 versions? Never got updated. Will we get the same Ford Falcon V8 Supercar from 2000?

This is the Sentra.

I´d love to have the Chrysler C300, such a beautiful car! And I hope GT5 has more recent models then GTPSP.

Let's not make this a wishlist.

Ultimately ther are many reasons why one cars can be in the game and another can't. The biggest reason I'd imagine is time, PD can probably license the vast majority of cars quite easilly but they simply don't have time to put them all into the game. So they will pick and choose cars based on whatever it is they are looking for. Beyond them deciding what they want to include they then have to be granted a license to cover each car they want to include. There has been cases and continues to be cases where PD are not allowed to use a car in the game due to licensing conflicts, for example Porsche who have an exclusive license with EA which means Porsche cannot grant PD a license to represent thier cars in GT5 even if they wanted to be in GT5. I would imagine that there are some cars that get apssed from one game to the next and the next and so on simply because legally (and in cases where the games are on the same platform technically as well) it's simpler than to license another car to replace it with. The ideal situation is that they license the newer car and keep the older one as well, but then you loop back to time and the simple factor of selection. The big quesion is what cars does PD put into the game to give greatest variety for the user and to be effective tecnically, economically and legally for PD? We can't answer that one.

I love all types of cars but I've always been a little disappointed by the lack of American cars in the game. Seems kind of bad when there are more Nissan's featured in the game than all of the cars from Ford, GM, and Chrysler combined :indiff: I would also love to see more classic race cars instead of the 20+ JGTC cars we are always given.

I love 90s cars too, but its 2009 we have almost 10 years of cars that are being skipped over so that they can fit the same gen civics in 3 times (eg, ek) or so they can have as many nsx's as possible. 90s cars are great, but i want to drive more current models as well

Agreed 👍. I would want more recent models in the mix, along with the older American Muscle cars

The new cars... I don't know... the old cars... well... however hard they try to be global, PD are still a Nippon-centric company... and they have Japanese tastes... they had no Sentra SE-R... so skip that... though they had the Pulsar GTi-R and the Lucino with the high revving engine... so those were in previous installments. They have no Protege or Mazdaspeed version of it... the closest you could get was the Mazdaspeed Familia... which kinda sucked.

I don't know why they refuse to use the Mazda3... though personally, the Mazda6 drives better... and they always include that.

True the games have always been JP centric which is fine as there is usually an equivalent import. I completely spaced on the Familia(Protege) and they have the 2002 sport(not sure if its the turbo). Japan did have a vesion of the Sentra as a the Sunny but your right no SER and I dont see it on the list. I think its great they have the Mazda6/Atenza as I used to have a 6 but Im surprised they dont include the Axela(3 which I also owned) since it was reasonably popular in japan and if memory serves there was a Speed 3 released in japan as well as an AWD though underpowered 3. Maybe PD just needs a car modeling team in every region.

Exactly my thoughts. That's so true it's not normal when there are more cars of a single brand than from a whole country.

The turbo engine didn't appear in Japan. It's a parts-bin special assembled by Callaway in the US, using a mild turbine, the same LSD as the naturally aspirated Japanese Mazdaspeed Familia (which is probably why it kept breaking... not strong enough for turbo application), a slightly retuned stock ECU (US Proteges are all OBDII... Japanese were OBDI till they stopped making them... so the US version couldn't be ported over to Japan), and the in-bay intercooler from the diesel Familia from Europe.

Pretty fantastic job for a parts-bin engine... but the fact that it made a measly 170 hp compared to monsters like the 235 hp Dodge SRT4 (and that one was under-rated... it was more like 250+) kind of handicapped it in the bench-racing stakes... though magazines and owners absolutely loved it. If Mazda had spent a little more money and added forged internals, they could have made it around 220 hp and it would have found even more buyers.

The Sport20 in the game had an automatic transmission (friend has one of these engines... can't make the computer box mate up to his manual tranny... shame...)... and apparently didn't have an LSD. Those engines made 160-170 hp, but in real life, they aren't anywhere near as muscular as the turbocharged US version... which PD should really get around to testing...

I am also dissapointed that "everyday" cars are being omited.

Early GT games held a certain charm with the ability to buy a used car, race for money, then turn it into a bonified racer. For many, this feature made the game more believable than today's ultra hi-def edition. The used cars of the 90's were actually obtainable at the time thus making GT1 and 2 more realistic. You have to ask yourself, "Will I ever push a bugatti to it's limits?" Probably not.

You all may think this is funny but I'd really like a '91 camry, '94 accord, and a '92 geo storm gsi in GT5.. Driving legendary race cars is fun but there's nothing like being able to drive your own cars in the game. (BTW I don't own these cars anymore :( )

I am afraid the thrend of absent "everyday" cars will continue as PD shifts it's focus on racecars (LMP's, JGTC, Touring, WRC, Nascar etc..).

People wonder why there are Diahtsu's in the game but if you think about it, these are the "eveyday" cars that Japanese drive. If only PD could bring this feeling back for the rest of the world...

Both the car I drive in real life and my favorite sportscar (Corvette ZR-1) are in so I'm happy as a kid on Christmas. The addition to Lamborghini is very nice as well. Hopefully there will be a Diablo and Murcielago.

Saw this in the Official PSP Car list:

"Chrysler 300C ‘05"

Here's hoping that it'll be in GT :)

Also happy to see the Classic GT40 in there, so it's possible that it'll also be in GT5

okay...I'm gonna explain this to all of you.

every car market in every country has their own set of standards of what models they recieve, what nameplate is on them, what engine is in them, etc. PD uses mostly the Japanese Domestic Market names.

that Sentra the first poster was looking for isn't called that in Japan

to the person looking for the Geo Storm: they DID slip one in...in it's 80's Isuzu impulse/native Isuzu Piazza name.

the cars you are looking for are probably there, but under their Japanese HOME market names

i suggest you actually look it up! for Example, the Miata is the American domestic Market name for the Eunos roadster. i don't know how it is in central or south america, but up here, that's the way it is.
the same thing will happen.

names also transfer between markets. it happens a lot with american model names. for example, the Lumina nameplate used in (apparently) mostly the African and Middle east market was used on an american sedan/saloon from 90-2000, and an american MPV/Minivan from circa 90-98 or so.
a European refering to a Galaxie is talking about a Minivan/MPV...an American refering to a Galaxie is talking about a humongous 60's coupe/convertable stuffed to the gills with luxury.

the everyday cars ARE in there, but they're under a name you might not recognise.

oh, as for the 300C (btw, it's a CAPITAL C), in GT4, it was the american "treat" for putting up with waiting so long for the game, and was NTSC U/C only. if any markets in Central or South America got that, then let me know. the markets all got their own goodies for waiting. Korea got two special Hyundais for themselves, for example.

Hey! I drive a Sentra.. I would like it if it was in the game... that be cool driving your real car in the game haha :) hope it makes it in. BTW its 2005 1.8 special, me wants SPEC-V!

Except that the Sentra/Sunny still isn't in the game.

oh, as for the 300C (btw, it's a CAPITAL C),
I didn't notice anyone spelling it with a small c

(300C) in GT4, it was the american "treat" for putting up with waiting so long for the game, and was NTSC U/C only.
But it was in the European version too.

if any markets in Central or South America got that, then let me know.
The version that North America got is exactly the same as the Central and Southern America version.
