yesterday i was trying the 206 cup the the AI cars were like le-mans cars in 206 clothing!!! Im not the best driver in the world but im ok and i had a powerful car: 206 rc-approx 270bhp 1 way lsd racing brakes semi racing suspension etc but still the AI cars finished the first race 30sec ahead of me and they were much quicker on the straights of opera paris. The AI were mostly 206 s16s + i cc+ 2rc's(including me)

Can anyone shed any light on this???

I've experienced the same thing on many occasions.

The Beetle cup is just like that, and the VX220 is like that aswell.

I don't know why though.

Your opponents have all the parts you can get (according to some sources Racing soft tyres too) and some say that they have more power than you can ever get for any 206 excluding the rally car. Get your own car kitted out with everything you can get your hands on, it levels the field nicely and you'll still be racing with an inferior car as the A-Spec point amounts indicate. 60 points mean you have a car equivalent to the AI field, you'll be driving 100+ points races in this series. Tells something about the AI cars.

The VX220 (or Speedster) cup isn't quite as difficult. It can be easily won with a fully tuned non-turbo model on S3 tyres. My signature link holds one of those cars.

Greycap is completely correct. The AI opponents are heavily modified, so you will have to do the same to your car. Since there are no tire limitations in this race series, go ahead and install racing tires. R2's should be enough, but I think R3's would last as well since the races are short. Make sure that all your other upgrades are installed as well. The Peugeot 206 RC '03 that you are using can win, since its the car that I used to earn 200 A-spec points at each race in this series. Other drivers have used the Peugeot 206 Rally Car '99 with success, so you could also try it if you have the car (it costs $750,000 from the showroom). Good luck.

Check your tyres. The AI in Beetle Cup is using Racing-Qualify (RSS). You're given a Racing Super-Hard (RSH) when you buy that Race Buggie.

I was actually rolling with a fully tuned RSi with 4WD and whatever power I could eek out - and then switched.

The AI is just like the others. But it's cars are fully tuned up... the higher turbo/engine level possible, great transmission, that's why it's always hard to deal with them, WHEN YOU TUNE UP UR RIDE TO THE MAX, IT'S STILL JUST AS GOOD AS THE OPPONENTS'

That's not quite true, they're highly tuned, but not fully tuned, and it's not at all necessary to "Tune To The Max" in order to beat them.

I posted setups to all 3 roadgoing 206s that're eligible for this race in this thread.

Also, please refrain from using "txtspeek" abbreviations like "Ur" here.
"Your" is a 4 letter word and should be typed as such, as required by our AUP (Click the link at the bottom of any :gtplanet: page for clarification. 👍)

The first time i did this race 3-4 years ago i used my tuned 206 CC and i had no problems. I found out what allk the fuss was about when i got in that insult to a hot hatch: The 206 RC.

Seriously, that thing understeers, then when you finally get out of the corner, you have to be careful on the throttle, 200hp in third and the wheels spin like crazy. Its one of the worst handling Front wheel drive cars in the game. Due to the wheelspin the AI just pulls away on the straight. The best way forward would be racing tyres i guess...
