Why is there no pre-race qualifying in daily races?

You know, like in the current cups. Why do you have an entire day of qualifying and then a time that will count towards every race you enter? It seems kind of strange to me. Qualifying shouldn't reward those with the most time on their hands.

Seeing how incredibly important it is to have a good qualifying time online this bothers me. I can't even remember the last time I had a clean race, because I'm always at mid position when I cannot spare enough hours to qualify.

How’s that any different? You can practice all day if you want and just put in your q lap when you race.

You can’t stop people practicing all day if they want - they’ll still be faster than you.

And then you want to waste 5 mins before every daily race for a crash fest qualifying that everyone will have already done a lot of times?

Nah sounds like a bad plan.

I think in the interest of realism there should be qualifying before each race ... thats what happens in the real world ... and this game is big on realism apparently.

Wow... you don't get it at all.

No you cannot stop people from practicing all day but all day qualifying is stupid too. The way it works right now doesn't show the talent of people, the people with fastest times are mainly nolifers with no other interest in life other than doing lap times. Quite sad really but in Cups it's obvious these people cannot set their best time.. not even close.. and what's worse, for people with work and family this is a huge dissadvantage.

I don't think you get it. How is that different from any other game> Overwatch, CoD, Battlefield the people with more time will always be better than the "people with work and family". I ran 25 races today, do you think I wanna qualify before every single one of them? Qualifying is working fine as is imo.

Yes, changing the current qualifying system would be as bad a choice as when they changed from weekly to daily updates. The ability to improve my time with practice and *without* the interference of random a-holes out to spoil my day is crucial to my enjoyment of the game.

I didn't speak up when I was happy with the weekly races and so the complainers got their way - I'm not taking that risk here. You want a free for all qually session, you have it in the championship races. Leave the dailies alone!

yep - daily races would be draining if you had 8 minutes of quali tacked on before each one... you want to be able to jump into them as often as possible.

Also a great point of difference for the cup races to make them feel a bit more special. Quali where you need to nail that lap, in traffic, when it matters most... and also the grid introductions.

It's perfect the way it is.

Stop whining and calling top players no-lifers, I have a 8-5 job and I can still get times up on the board. Sounds like you're abit salty:D

Please dont call what we have now a qualifying time. A qualifying time is gained from running qualifying laps before a race, it requires skilled driving under pressure because you only get a couple of chances to nail it. What we have now is a persons best time after practice laps, often many many practice laps, its a practice time , dont kid yourselves its anything else. Qualifying sorts the men from the boys ... its real ... and its fair.

it's a time set to place them in a grid order to start the race. You can call it whatever you like but it's still a qualifying time.

Your beef is with the qualifying format.

I see your point but there is still a big difference into qualifying all day and have your fastest lap count, or practicing all day and then enter an 8 minute qualifying time.

I agree with the OP but I experienced your crash fest qualifying in the championships as well. IMO best of both worlds, the qualifying should be everyone with everyone 100% of the time ghosted, most fair IMO.

My beef is that a practice time is different to a qualifying time. Hamilton might be fastest in practice but Vettel might get pole position after the qualifying laps. Thats the right way to do it. I dont know what the problem is.

Daily races aren't for points, so the 'open qualifying' format is merely a means to get some form of order on the grid to ensure the fast drivers are towards the front, and the slower drivers down back.

The daily races are the spam format of Sport mode, the ones you don't care as much about that you want to be able to do as much as possible. You don't want to have to qualify for each race every time. It would be a complete pain and there would be more complaints than praises.

I agree with this. When Im grinding a daily I dont want to waste time running qualifying every time.

Some people do actually like to race the daily qualifiers as it has an online top 10 ranking system, It's a small daily competition all on it's own for the interested drivers to see if they can get one of the top times in their region.. what is wrong with people doing that?

Simply put it's horses for courses guys, people can and will do what they are interested in and if anyone else has a problem with it? then that's their problem :P:tup:

Hamilton won, you'll have to get over it:sly:

Oh look, such an original thought.

I’m pretty sure anyone in the top 10 on the leaderboards will still top whatever room or quali formats you think would nullify their advantage. Fast guys will always be fast. I feel like I’ve been saying this since GT5P release 10 years ago. I’ve seen all different types of mental gymnastics to try and explain it away. Repeat after me.. fast guys will always be fast.

I am British. Hamilton could start last and still win.

Fast guys will always be fast.

Guys, this is a video game. Stop bringing up realism all the time. GT Sport is big on realism but only in select areas, which is perfectly fine.

Let's discuss what yields the best gameplay and gives us the best playing experience in stead. Wether it's real or not.

I agree with this. There is 15mins before the race when you can enter. Only time set in this time should count towards gris position. I had a great time on one track and was always in top 3 or first even if I was so poor in the 15 mins before race.

I'm 1st in TOP 10 so that just proved my point. I got in the car for the first time in this game, on the track I've never driven before. Set this time after 20 minutes of driving.

My message was too much maybe but this is what I mean. I don't have all day to play 1 track with 1 car to set fastest time that's why I'm not in leaderboards more often.

I guess I don't get your point then. If you can get a #1 time in 20 minutes, why do you care what other people do? Also, again if you only race one or two dailies it wouldn't be a big deal, but I race 20 a day sometimes.

You don't get my point? This is a very unpopular track (layout actually) and same goes for the car. It shows beautifly how good people are at adapting to new cars and new tracks.

And to answer your question. I don't care. I just think it'd show real lap times if Q was 15 minutes before race. Because now I go to a race where I start usually 5-6th and I'm constantly being blocked my people before me.

How many dailies do you race a day? I admit your solution would probably be perfect for you. For the most of us though it would just be a big pain and add unnecessary wasted time when we could be racing. Not trying to be confrontational, I just don't see it as an issue.
