It's been a rough week here for sim racing with my sons T300 finally going down Friday, and my CSL pedals acting up yesterday.

Fortunately both can be fixed here at home or temporarily replaced with older gear I've hung onto.

It could easily turn into a multi week non simming frustration whether you had to send it in, you're waiting on a manufacturer to get you the parts or sourcing them yourself.

In this case, I dusted off my old CSR elite for my son while we wait for parts for his 300. ( I'll probably never get it back)

Hooked up my old T3PA's while I wait for a new potentiometer from Fanatec to fix my pedals and we're both still racing tonight with zero down time.

So I say to my fellow sim fans and friends, don't sell that old wheel when you decide to upgrade. Put it in the closet and forget about it, until you need it.

It's far more valuable as a backup than the few dollars you'll get for it on the used market.

Sim hoarder confession:

I have my current rig - Fanatec CSW V2.5, CSL Elite LC pedals, Universal Hub and GT Forza wheel.

Still have a Fanatec CSR wheel and CSR Elite pedals (LC).
And a Porsche GT2 wheel - center sensor broke so I wired a switch to manually centre it.
And my first wheel Driving Force GT.
All of these still work the last time I checked.

Had a G27 but sold it when I got the CSR.

Edit: Forgot to mention consoles - still have a PS One(PSX? old one), PS2, 2 PS3s, Dreamcast, Nintendo Wii in addition to current PS4 and xBox One S :)

I use to sell everything thing. Not anymore.

I used to as well when I had a massive R/C car addiction.
Used to race alot of high end Team Associated chassis and was always chasing the latest and greatest.

You start building, racing, and losing a $1500 1/10 scale car a season it tends to open your eyes.

Considered selling some old gear to upgrade to a DD someday, but continue to think against it. I say hold on to everything for the peanuts you’re otherwise going to get for them.

Still have: DFGT, G27, G29, and a backup T300 wheelbase I picked up on discount.

Not to mention all the consoles laying around in boxes...

Still have my LMP Destiny Force Feedback Wheel from more than 20 years ago hoarded away... not USB, so not much use as a backup

Keep the G27 or G29 and sell the rest.

The G29 and DFGT would be the first to go but I’ll keep the G27 around for a PC someday. Also would ditch the (2) toylike shifters, one of which was never used. I’ll even throw in some rubber gaskets for free.

I'm going to keep my G27 as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to replace it though. What I do want are decent pedals with at least a load cell brake.
