Why use simulation tires?

But what drifting characteristics does it have though, I mean I use Medium Racing Tires for drifting and it works pretty well, it does not slip much and I weight shifted with my 1000+ hp Skyline VII R34 on that SS Route 05 (1st corner).

Here's several reasons:

1. Some folks need a super challenge, they're too good at the game.

2. Some also believe the simulation tires are the only ones that truly simulates the way a car handles.

3. If you can control yourself, simulation tires will give you the longest, most dramatic drifts. IF you can control yourself.

4. They're inexpensive.

5. They are supposed to simulate the tires found on everyday passenger cars. Normal tires are not really true-to-life according to what the manual says.

Personally, I never use sim tires....they take the fun out of the game for me. I prefer being relatively equal terms against other cars. I like a challenge but not THAT much of a challenge!

have you drifted with sims yet mate? they are so much better to drift with. everything i drift has sims, and all i use is high hp. my viper orca is fully modded with sims, best thing that ive got as far as drifting goes. to each his own though.

NOT EVERONE DRIFTS! some people race and not drift in the game, the game doesnt have to be fitted to your likeing.

I think they offer too low a grip....I mean....A R34 GT-R, even a used one has more grip in real life than on Sims in GT......I don't think it's more realistic than normal tires, but more challenging 👍

I would use sim tires more often if the game featured other cars using them. In an actual race, they're just too frustrating. It's been proven in the GT2 forums by a fellow there that Gran Turismo cars run on everything from normal to super soft tires, depending on the race you're in. Simulation tires never make an appearance.

The sims seem to give the entire car an amount of "wobble." Considering what little I've experienced RL of a car at high (over 100mph) speeds, it seems about right. Regular passenger cars seem to shake--I don't know about sports cars, but I imagine they do to a much lesser degree.

Use sims to give yourself a challenge, or to force yourself to learn better driving.

I came up with this genious (stupid) idea....sims should simulate the really cheap and old tires, like you would get from an older cheap economy car and the normal ones simulate like....newer performance(-ish) street rubber....like the Yokohama AVS Sport (it's the V/Y-Patterned one). Rode once in a BMW ///M5 E34 on the Autobahn, 260 kmh and the vibrations were pretty low (for that kind of speed).
