will gt academy events end with the competition?

Unlikely. If I recall correctly, the previous GT Academy Demo lasted a few days (or none) before it expired.

Don't worry, what's basically in the demo will soon be added to the full GT5. 
The only thing missing would be the events themselves and a leaderboard to set your standards. But you can always come back here to see what times people are getting.
Edit: Just thought of something - most events aren't hot laps, so that's not possible.

Yeah, it's a great excuse to get the whole game though. New time trials come out every couple weeks so you can test yourself against the whole world with different cars and tracks anytime.
And the previous GT Academy was done with-in GT5, in the Seasonals mode, not a standalone downloaded like this year.
