Will GT6 Ever Be Released On PS4?

I've been following the release of the PS4 with some interest and noticed that some games are being released on both the PS3 and PS4 (Battlefield 4, for example). That got me to thinking ... how much different is the API for the PS3 and PS4? Has Sony created any tools to assist the developers in porting their games to the PS4? And if so, could there be a PS4 release of GT6 prior to the release of GT7?

To me, it's an interesting question because I could see Sony providing some financial incentive to PD to make this happen. Right now, I have zero incentive to buy a PS4. But would that change if I could play GT6 on the new hardware? Yeah, definitely.

Food for thought.

Could happen, but wouldn't you rather wait a bit longer for a new game with new features (GT7) rather than a PS3 game with more eye candy?

Obviously, I'd rather have GT7 on the PS4 right now with every cool feature imaginable. To me it's a question of how much work is it for PD? And then it becomes a question of risk vs. reward. As a consumer, I'm looking for a reason to move to the new hardware. And thinking of it from PD's point of view ... if it's easy to do, some people will buy both. So that equals more units sold.

How about thinking of it this way:

Why would one use the tools of discussion without familiarising themselves with such before use?

The PS2 is still being sold. The PS3 still has life left in it. Only sense in terms of dollars to squeeze every ounce of life from it; GT6 will help that.

I really doubt it, looking at PD's track record of 2 games per console generation.

Besides, it's been made pretty clear that GT6 is strictly PS3, and GT7 will be coming sooner than we think on PS4.

Yes, it is easy (at least compared to developing a game on the PS3) , but knowing PD, they will take their time when it comes to developing games. PD is not the sort of company to conform to strict deadlines and release things early, just because it makes short-term financial sense. Their attention to detail means they are keen on maximising the graphics output of the hardware they are working on. Knowing these limits takes a while.

I hope it won't be sooner than we think. That means a rushed product. The talks is for porting over GT6 that will evolve into GT7. Porting to the PS4 doesn't sit well with me now that I think about it. The PS4 is next gen. At that point, everything in a game should be premium and top notch. I recall years back Kaz claimed that his vision of his ideal game can not be done with PS2 or PS2 hardware. The PS4 is leaps and bounds better hardware for sure. The excuses should seize. With GT being a Sony exclusive, there is no reason to not take the PS4 to its boundaries. No excuses here now. Provide or fold under. There is no other porting to other platforms to worry about. If PD can't deliver on the next gen console, I think their days will be numbered.
