Will offline races ever use a sensible choice of competitors

By this I mean field a group of cars that are at least vaguely similar in performance & hence PP points so the racing is at least close rather than spread out?

Just did World Circuit Tour race at Ascari &the difference in PP of the cars fielded was 100.
This meant when the lead AI driven car passed the finish line the last place car was just coming up to the first timing checkpoint so it was 2/3rds of a lap behind!!!
In other words its lapping about 20% slower having its own race.

That's the problem the field spreads out & has their own race their is no actual race (GT500, GT3 being the odd exception)

I can work round the slow AI by using a slower car but it is still impossible to have fun as only one or 2 cars in the field will have a similar pace to me.

This has been covered with the "improve offline" thread. But, you are right, to an extent. The more advanced a player, the tighter the field should be.

Not just this, but in a race slanted towards race cars, I'd very much desire to see the field of cars limited to one or two classes of racing, like DTM, ALMS, FIA GT2 etc. Of course, this would require more cars, but some of that could be additional liveries.

F1 has a 107% rule in qualifying (the slowest car allowed in the race has to be a maximum of 7% slower than the fastest based on their best lap times). I'm pretty sure even Le Mans has a similar rule that all cars, regardless of class (LMP or GT), has to qualify within x% of the overall pole lap (assumably an LMP1).
