Did some lapping arround Big Willow today using stock cars, CM tyres, all aids off including ABS and default brake balance. I'm by all means not a fast driver, but it kinda shows each cars individual performance with me driving. Times in the PDF/Excel attached. Will update when more cars get tested. If compared to real life lap times even CM tyres seem to have too much grip. Might try CH setups and compare.

In general tyres have too much traction when turning and braking.

How I test:
Most cars are given 5 laps to set their best time. Some are given more, some less. I.e. the GTO was given 10 laps while the Volvo 240 was given two (yawn!). Wheel used is the Driving Force Pro.

Here is a link to the real world times as well:

I wouldn't put much trust in those referance lap times.
They state that a 2011 Mustang V6 is 7,4 seconds faster than a 2013 Boss 302, very random and unrepresentative of the various cars' performance.

Also a Ferrari FXX with the same tyres as a '90 Silvia?

Tyres compound is the same, but handling, tyre dimensions and grip differs vastly from car to car. The FXX carries about 17 km more speed through "The rabbits ear" compared to the Silvia. The RUF BTR '86 skids like crazy on the same "road going" compound. GT sports tyres stick like RL slicks and slicks ain't allowed in the streets. I try to mimick RL setups, but I know it ain't perfect.

Turn 9 shows as much as 25-30 km/h difference between the worst and best of these cars.

PS. The Mustang Boss is claimed to be about 11-12 secs faster than the time reported. Click the links to see the discussion behind the times achived in the un-official list.

You have to factor in that real life racing has that "Fear of death" switch set to 10.

The very real peril of driving a car near the limit can slow drivers right down. Virtual drivers laugh at the face of death. When faced with a 150mph corner with a chance you will roll the car if you leave the track could make a driver more circumspect when they barrel into the sweeper.

Also you crash in GT6 - the car gets some cool dirt splatters - Real life at a track you could well break something that is tough to fix.

I'd have to agree that GT6 has too much grip.

Not sure if arcade mode has faulty brakes so running ABS=0 will make car run with brake bias of 10 front 0 rear... which is no good for going fast.

The Corner speeds through Rabbits ear would be a great place to study tyre grip and how different cars perform.

Good luck and Drive hard.

Except all FXX have DOT semi-slick tyres.

There is no 'comfort tyre' for the FXX so any time set with such a tyre is
irrelevant
Many many street sports cars come with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres these days - the MPSC is in effect a DOT semi slick and anyone taking their car to the track (at least anyone with common sense) will not run with 'comfort' tyres.

Thing is GT6 sports tyres are too grippy and the entire tyre modell is modelled together with Yokohama so either way those Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tyres won't find their way to that FXX. The grip offered by the FXX and both McLarens vastly exceed those of a RUF BTR when using CM tyres.

The grip of the Gran Turismo 350Z on CM tyres is so strong that it is difficult to achieve wheelspin in the uphill S bend.

Haha! The scirocco beat the.... The .... What da..?

The fit is second to last?!?

The Scirocco has some crazy oversteer which helps it through some of the corners. Most cars are slowed down because of understeer and some due to loosing traction during acceleration. The cars feels so different that I suspect there some hidden factors for grip besides suspension, weight and tyres. Maybe some kind of tyre grip factor per car.
