Win Xp Pro

how do i gain access to a win XP Pro machine that requires a username and password to log on? is there a way round this, i only need access to the local machine, not the network or domain

If the computer is on a network, you can log in as the administrator and change the password for that computer. But, it sounds like you're just trying to hack into someone's computer.

If it's a local XP computer and you forgot the password, you're screwed. Start over.

If the person who installed the operating system was lazy, it is possible that they didn't create an administrator password. Try booting in to safe mode and going into the Administrator account. It probably won't work, but it might. You can create another account from there.

cheers guys but its still fecked...

i am trying to hack into a laptop...you're right...but its MINE!...the system admin guy installed XP pro to maintain network access security...hes telling me he told me the password (he didnt, i found the computer on my desk one day) and now says its against company poilcy to divulge passwords to staff...

i am thinking of formatting it and puttng win98 on it but i have a load of files and stuff i need on the hard drive that i cant access...

rather than reinstal or take a screwdriver to the laptop to get the hard drive out and stick it in a desktop as a second drive, i just thought i would ask...
