After the announcement today that Nokia will be releasing two new phones (Lumia 830 & 730) to replace it's predecessors the 820 and 720. And announcing the appearance of a new software update named "Denim", I think it's time we have a thread on here to discuss the new and coming. Also complications with updates, developer preview and providers not rolling out Nokia's updates have made Windows phone quite a mess. Many users (enrolled in the Preview) being unable to update their phones to Cyan due to bugs.

What can we expect from MS and Nokia in the coming months?

I don't know what to expect in the near future, but I sure wish there would be SOMETHING. I'm on my second Nokia Lumia 1520 because of the WP 8.1 update. Something went horribly wrong with the update/install and it basically bricked my phone. The thing became completely unstable, opening and closing apps at will, draining the battery at an alarming rate, jittering the screen as though someone were sliding it up and down very quickly(try focusing on a tile to tap it when it's doing that!). Cortana didn't work as expected or promised. All in all, a bunk update. So, I now have another 1520 which is back to black so-to-speak. I've left it at Lumia Black software level, which is WP 8.0 and will not update to 8.1 until I hear of a confirmed fix from either Microsoft or Nokia. So far, nothing.
I see that you mentioned "Denim". What does this entail? I haven't read anything about it as of yet.
I'd like to be able to upgrade to 8.1 so that I can make use of some of the nicer features of it, but I'm afraid that if I do it will have the same effect on this phone as it had on the previous one.
My other option is installing an app on my pc that will let me revert my Lumia back to 8.0 in the event of a failed update.
Now then, having said all that, I need to add that I thoroughly enjoy this phone. It functions very fluidly. Screen transitions are polished to perfection. The hardware of the phone is high end and it shows in it's performance. Win 8.0 is nice, and I just wish the update could have built on that to make it even better rather than what happened.
So, anyone have any options that are viable for me to consider to get my phone up to 8.1? No, I'm not going to the dark side either, so keep your Iphone comments to yourself please. I already had an android and it was meh compared to this.
