Windows XP Taskbar Weirdness... help!

When I close a window or program is still hangs on the taskbar for like 3 or sometimes more seconds before it dissapears.....It doesnt do this on my 5 year old computer running windows xp but this one is only like a few months old and it does this nearly everytime I close something..... whats wrong?

AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512MB RAM
ATI Radeon X550 256MB
XP Home

Maybe spyware/viruses slowing down your PC, seems like the most obvious cause

It may depend on the prgoram on how long it takes, but it's probably nothing bad. Some things that like to use memory and CPU power tend to take a while to go away (and sometimes you have to mouseover the taskbar for the icon to go away).

That's a tough one.
I'd say it's probably an explorer extension, or something, that's interfering with the taskbar.
Uninstall anything that you've installed before the problem started to occur. Make sure you restart or logoff/logon after each uninstall to verify if the problem is gone, or not.
This might be a lengthy procedure, but it is the only way I can see to fix this (unless you want to reinstall).

Maybe it is, as another person mentionned, a virus or a spyware. I would run a virus/spyware scan.
