Winning... without actually winning

I'm been playing this straight for a week now, never had a problem. But now, I'm trying to do one of the 10 minute races in International B, the race on Circuito di Roma, and I actually winning by 20-30 seconds, but just as I'm exiting the last corner my posistion drops from 1st, to 12th place...

Any idea what's going on?

Yes, there's a problem with those races, it's an issue that they'll probably fix soon.

Apparently the first car that crosses the line after the time is up, is the winner.

Yes. v1.03 has introduced an odd bug with timed races where vehicles that are on the "same lap" (that is seconds behind at splits, not laps behind) are credited with finishing in the order they cross the finish line.

I'd imagine that in your case, you've lapped AI cars 16-13 and are a significant distance on track ahead of AI cars 2-12 - sufficient for you to start your final lap before the timer ends but for them not to finish theirs. Thus when the timer ends, they cross the line and are credited as 1st-11th.

The problem I just noticed with this was that I won the 24 hours of leMans and I only got 12 or 13th place payout even though I won the race. Hope they get this fixed sooner than later.

No I don't think that is what @Famine is saying, you still have to be in the lead but to guarantee the win until it's fixed, you just need to be just slightly in front of the 2nd place car to get the win.

If you just park up and wait after the first lap the others will storm by you and you will still be last as you will not be on the same lap as the car that wins.

It's really messed up

I believe you'll be last, but you'll actually get first place payout iirc. (Read this in a different thread, have not actually tested this myself...)

I think, and am really skating on thin ice here so forgive me if I'm wrong but, you have to be on the same lap as the other cars when the timer ends. So simply parking up after the first lap will usually mean that you are at least one lap down on the car that crosses when the timer is up and hence you get placed last.

Racing ahead usually means you cross the line just before the timer ends and start a new lap whilst the others, because they are so far behind, don't make it to the line until the timer ends and because you are now NOT on the same lap you don't get the win, even though you are 1 lap up on the rest.

I may have it all wrong but I did a race last night and that's how I thought I won it....It's so messed up though so it's hard for me to be absolutely sure.

While it does, it's only because it's a bug. That's not the intended format - it worked perfectly well in v1.00, v1.01 and v1.02.

It appears to me that even the bug itself is inconsistent.
One of the 15 minute races I lapped all AIs and kept the win but in the 15 minute Nurburgring race it always takes away the win for me. The highest it has awarded me after a win is second and then the next time I logged into GT6 it had dropped me from 2nd to 6th and took away a star.

p.s. FWIW, I did experience the already known error in the 1.03 update before attempting the races.

Done this race yesterday & had the same problem,done the race again and still had the problem, got annoyed and booted the steering wheel over.
but its not just that race, it's happened to me a few times in a couple of other races

It's going to happen in all of the time limited races Should be fine in any race that is just a number of laps though 👍

There was a patch this morning, after that I ran the 'ring and got to keep the gold trophy.

In the other thread about this glitch, people are saying they still have this issue even after the update so I guess I was just lucky to get the gold and stars.

just so you know i did finish the race on the same lap i slowed AI down the timer reached the 15 min mark then i crossed in first place and it awarded me a silver trophy. please fix soon.

There's been two micropatches since v1.03 and the first of these partially fixed that particular bug - the winner actually wins now.

I'd suggest investigating whether these patches have been installed on your console. What's the version number in the top right of your game's in-game user manual?

This still isn't working and I'm really hot and bothered by it i must of done circuit de rome like 6 times 10 minutes per race and every time i cross the finish line i have some time left before it hits 10 minutes and then ill drop to 7th or 8th places because when the timer strikes 10 minutes the people losing the race become the winners and I'm stuck halfway around my final lap WHAT TO I DO i tried like waiting at the finish line on the lap right before 10 minutes hits its hard

NEVERMIND FINISH OUT THE RACE IT WORKS I DROPPED TO 8TH PLACE BUT ONCE I ACTUALLY FINISH AND CROSS THE FINISH LINE IT PUTS YOU BACK IN FIRST PLACE

Very odd indeed.

The game is showing the order of the cars as they cross the Finish Line after the 24 minute timer is reached, and then, if you happen to be in front of them, and therefore had begun your next lap, the game will place you back in first place once you come around the track and finish your lap.

That issue has been fixed by PD since I made that post. 👍

Well, it kind of undermines the hole bloody point of the race to give you last-place payouts when you work to get your arse into first place, doesn't it?
