Okay, if you agree, you agree that people with power, are responsible for using it justly, not abusing it, and are resposible for for using that power to help those without it. (I believe so)
Disagreeing means that you believe if some gets power, no matter how, it's there's and they can do with it whatever they want.
For some background read the Eat the Rich thread. That is why i'm posting this.

I'm not allowing for middle ground here. Middle ground makes a mess of things. It's either Yes or No, and feel free to post why you belive that.

With the caveat that this great power cannot be used to strip people of thier rights, I think that people should use thier power how they see fit.

It is not for me to decide what they should do with their power, as long as they don't infringe my rights.

What kind of Power are you talking about here? Money? Brains? Influence? Athletic ability? Superman powers? Big knockers?

Any and all power. Mostly money. but really, it's hard to have influence without power, or is influence=power..... if you have the ability to influence then you have the power to persuade.... Power is power......2 a : possession of control, authority, or influence over others is the definition from Websters online that i think fits this threads purposes the best.

Hmm that's why The United States has the Bill of Rights in their Constitution. So when United States Federal Government becomes tyrannical. The citizens of the United States can rise up against the tyranny, and start over. Unless the United States citizens become fat, lazy, and rely on the Federal Government of the United States to much to become like sheep. Baaa Baaa!

I could'nt eat bill gates... way too rich for my blood ..high in colestoral I bet ..not healthy .

Speaking of "mods", and with sincere apologies to Warren Zevon (author, RIP) and Linda Ronstadt (performer):

Poor, Poor, Pitiful Rich

Well I have the stocks and I got the cash
But my banker was a snitch
So the IRS they audit me
Poor poor pitiful Rich

Poor poor pitiful Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich
Oh the Democrats won't let me be
Bush have mercy on me
Woe woe is me

Well I drive my Hummer down the street
I'm using lots of gas
I get the bird from those I meet
They can kiss my ass
Yes I get the bird from those I meet
I get their middle finger
The only thing I'm grateful for;
At least, it ain't a Stinger.

Poor poor pitiful Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich
Oh the Democrats won't let me be
Bush have mercy on me
Woe woe is me

Well I built a house up at Big Sur
Right beside the ocean
The"Earth-Firsters" they picket me
What a peculiar notion
Poor poor pitiful Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich

Bush have mercy on me
Woe woe is me

[gradual fade]

Poor poor poor Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich
Poor poor poor Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich
Poor poor poor Rich
Poor poor pitiful Rich

Yes, with any power at all comes responsibility and accounatbility... but not responsibility to help those weaker than you - just responsibility not to hurt anyone.

And "hurt" is NOT defined as "fail to help".

So given the two choices, I'm excercising my right to not choose. The way they're worded is equally unacceptable.

The only entities I can think of that fit that bill are my Mother and the US government. I can hold the government accountable for its actions. I'm not sure about Mom, though.

I agree with it, however I think that it should be the other way around; the more responsibility you have, the more power you carry. There is a saying that "Power Corrupts; Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely." It carries with it a wisdom that applies to this topic. In order to gain power, you must first be ready to wield it. If you can't wield it before you gain it, then you're going to be corrupted by it. It is an interesting topic...

^Ah.... That is so true. but that would be a whole other argument. I'm glad to see that my side is winning the pole. That makes me feel a whole lot better. The ongoing bloodbath in the "Eat the Rich" thread is quite draining.
