I am still having a hard enough time visualizing Gal Gadot as wonder woman
Works for me.
As for the director issue, they are still in pre-production. They have plenty of time. They weren't scheduled to start filming until next year and hadn't even finished the script yet.
That said, WB has been determined to have a female director on this project. That gives them a very limited choice of people to hire and has an increased likelihood of bringing on someone who doesn't understand this kind of genre. I don't care how well your TV work is (Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead) if you don't understand comic books, know the characters, what fans of the characters expect, or understand why these characters are popular you might not be a good fit and discovering that while working with the writing staff is far better off than finding it out after the movie gets attacked by the base fans.
Now, the fact that they got someone from TV had a promising element to it, in that these films all have to fit together. TV directors don't direct every episode. They direct one episode in the middle of a line. They have to work with what others have done and leave it possible for the next person to come in and do something that also meshes in with everything.
Unfortunately, now they are under a tighter schedule to find a new director. They may not have the ability to stick to finding a female director, which may prove to be a problem in the press if they now have to hire a male director.
I had read some
rumors about the direction this film was going to take, and if they were true any change seems welcome.
