In Westwood, MA, there is a bridge that is only 10' 6" in clearance. That bridge is known to destroy 18 wheelers who underestimate the clearance of that bridge, and has made frequent appearances on TV. The bridge claimed last year 15 18-wheelers, including one that was carrying over $100,000 worth of lobster. Today, it claimed another 18-wheeler.

Feel free to watch below:

I want to say that first video happened in Connecticut. Looks like Norwalk to me. Not 100% sure but I am pretty sure I saw that on local news for some reason

That was probably a very terrifying moment for the Honda behind.

Why the hell they drive under it, if they think it's even lower than it is?

You do know what "world famous" means?

It appears on TV. That is good enough for me.

Joking aside, I did not think about properly titling the thread when I posted it. I knew that a short bridge, not unlike this one did appear on TV, but now I'm not sure that this was that bridge.

Many truckers get told to drive this truck to this place and they dont bother to check the height of the vehicle or plan ahead

Yeah, coulda been 90 seconds shorter, and it wasn't an 18 wheeler, just a box truck.

I feel so let down.... :)

The same as being world champion in the NFL, NBA and MLB.

:P

This again? No, it's not the same. NFL, NBA, and MLB are the pinnacles of their respective sports. Therefore, being the champion of each league is equivalent to being the world champion.

We're not disputing that they're the best at those sports (although Yugoslavia has won the basketball world cup 5 times which is the same as the US) but until you let other countries take part in the NFL etc you cannot use the term world champions. It's a basic definition.

world champion

  1. someone who has won a competition open to people throughout the whole world

I just wonder where they got the name "world series"....

And let's not get started on the Miss Universe competition.... :P

All of those leagues are open to and contain international players. World Champions has nothing to do with countries. Sport is greater than political borders. Champions of the undisputed top league in the world of a respective sport = world champions. The most recent world champions in basketball had players from America, Nigeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, and Australia. Off the top of my head, I know that the NFL has Canadian, Estonian, Polish, Nigerian, Ghanese, Australian, and Pacific Islander players.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the MLB. "World" Series is appropriate. :P
Shoooot... forgot all about them...

edit:
and the NFL does play in various international locations too. Before preseason there were talks of a team based in Britain joining the league, but they would have to be sponsored by someone with deeeeeep pockets to ship them to/from games...
