Don't know where I should put this.. It's not news, it's not Riced - I just think it deserves a mention... The "kid" who's build it is now 28 and has spent 5 years on it.. Honourable mention to the home made CF hood, lip and spoiler...

Questions - ask.. I have the magazine where I found it at hand...

That's actually not a bad looking AX. Wonder if I could do that to our 'dead' one :D

I also remember James May praising the AX GT a while ago. That's a great little car that is very rarely mentioned.

I don't like it, it looks like any other generic bodykitted car to me. It looks a bit tacky, like a mitton dressed as a lamb. An old woman in a young girls clothes, trying to look young and pretty again, but looking tarty instead.

I can agree that it certainly isn't the best looking body kit available. However, for an AX it certainly doesn't look too bad.

I can then tell you that there's is no generic body kit on that car... Arches are done by hand. Front is a mix up of different sources...

The kid has skills in my book.. But complain all you want.. Then show me where I can buy the bodykit he apparently put on ! :-)

I figured it wasn't some standard kit, the fact that the hood is home made pretty much settles that, but that doesn't prevent it from looking generic, hence the reason I said "it looks ... generic", I wouldn't say the guy that made the bonnet and spoiler wasn't talented, ofcourse he is for being able to make that. But it still looks generic, I still don't like the look of it. If I was going to do a fully custom kit on a car I'd take it in a totally different direction to what this guy has done, I see 10 cars a day that besides the paint jobs all look similar to this (thats similar, not the same).

Yearh.. I was probably a bit harsh there - Sorry to All...

I'm just impressed he'd spend the time on a thing as ancient as the AX - and then get a result like he did... I'll do a couple of scans from the mag to show a little more detail...

Again - Sorry for the outburst...

Not a fan of the styling, but there's plenty worse out there. If it had different wheels, I'd also be happier. But, big props to working on a rare chassis-style. 👍

I'll praise it too! The last car I owned in England before I moved to the USA was a Citroen AX GT, plate # H617BFV. A great little car, 0-60s in under 8s, only 85HP from an 8V 1.4L engine, but light as a feather and handled beautifully! Used to love driving that thing down from South Manchester to Bala in Wales at the weekend, even with my windsurfing kit on the roof it went well! If you can find one in good condition, I'd highly recommend picking one up! 👍

It's cool in the way that we don't see them in the United States, but it doesn't seem all that "special." I mean sure, the color balance is great, the body-kit is tasteful, but I don't see that special thing that makes me say "Oh my, I need to build me one of those!"

...Cool topic, BTW. I like seeing what the Import (or is it considered Domestic, lol?) kids in Europe are doing. Here in America the tensions between the Japanese kids and the European kids seem kinda high, not always, but certainly a difference in the philosophy as to how an Import car should look and drive...

Looks good, especially how it all fits together, The colour-balance is great.

The standard Citroen AX.

It is also said to have a really low drag coefficient (0.31). I found that quite a surprise considering it's shape.

My dad could get about 60mpg/70mpg out of teh 1.4D aswell.

The messy grille-work deserves a place in "Max Power", but the rest of the car is top-notch work. :D
