Worldwide Sales of Gran Turismo 5

Thought I'd share.

Polyphony Digital has provided updated sales numbers for Gran Turismo 5.
As of September 2011 the PS3 exclusive racer has sold an additional 1 million copies worldwide bringing total sales to 7.3 million since the game released over a year ago.
Gran Turismo 5 has sold the most in Europe with over 4.5m copies sold, followed by North America with 1.8, and Japan with 630k. The remaining sales were contributed by the rest of Asia. Sales were up in all regions.

This is pretty awesome. Has it been bundled less than any other GT game?

AND this was before the Spec 2 and DLC announcements. According to VGChartz which undertracks copies shipped, GT5 sold/shipped 70,000 last week with the average each week being about 30,000 sold/shipped.

That's pretty cool, but I'm wondering about one thing. Why have so little been sold in Japan? Certainly it would be well over 1 million.

My thoughts exactly. That's a pretty awesome sales figure though, especially for a racing/driving game!
