Would it be a good idea to delete game data before the next patch?

I've had to turn of my playstation from the socket a few times when its frozen etc, and i still have my original install.

Do you guys see any harm in deleting the game data, but keeping the save file offcourse, and then when the new update is out booting the game on 1.0, going straight to 1.06 update and then installing game data, or whatever ordder it does it in?

OR do you think they expect most people to have 1.05 by now, so this could be asking for trouble as it may be untested?

Why ? Do you have any reason to believe this will fix a problem you are having ? I wouldn't be concerned about doing it from the patch test perspective as PD have to allow for folks who have just purchased the game. I just wonder what you think this will do for you ??

You know - I really ought to read posts more thoroughly. So it seems you think reinstalling the game data will help resolve your PS3 freezing issue. Worth a shot I guess - I don't think it could hurt. Does it lock up when playing any other games ? ie. Do you have reason to think the GT5 installation is the culprit ? Could be a hardware problem....

If you mean deleting the previous update, then maybe. Thats what I'm going to do before the next update.

Update 1.05 seems to hate my GT5 or PS3 as it glitched the sound of the LFA to sound ;like crap. I tried uninstalling then reinstalling but gave me the same results.

But if you mean teh actual game save data, then why would you want ot do that, unless your game data has a bug in it.

No ofcourse I meant the actual game data, no way save!

It seems like a long shot, but you never know with PD. I may not work going of a 1.0 disc right on the day of the update, especially since they are just aout to adress the sae game explosion issues. And even if it does, should I delete may game data now, install the 1.0 files on the hdd whilst offline, and then just patch to 1.06?

Or do both patch and game install at the same time?

Because in order to delete the patches you have to take out the whole 50 minute hdd install..

Our company software just got an update, it was full of bugs. 2 weeks later they patched the update. Sometimes it's better to wait a few days before going online to get an update. I will probably just wait till monday. Judging by PD's performance lately, use caution.

Correct, I disconnect the network cable from my ps/3
Then I will wait a day or two and read these forums on new introduced bugs before I'm going to update.
Same with Microsoft software if I'm not in a hurry then I wait first for service pack 1 before I switch to
the new program or operation system :)

In all honesty, you risk doing injustice to your save game data, by deleting it, prior patching it. In otherwords, you should leave your data intact, as the patch patches "everything". You may be SOL when you migrate your "1.05 data" over to a "1.06 game" and watch your cars perform worse than ever.
