I ask this under the assumption that the tires will be properly simulated and accurate.
They should be contacting all of the major Japanese tyre manufactures for data, absolutely.
Japanese? Sure, they speak the same language and all, but why not contacting the major tyre manufacturers around the world while they're at it? Michelin, Pirelli, Dunlop, Goodyear etc etc...They should be contacting all of the major Japanese tyre manufactures for data, absolutely.
They don't need to have real tires, and I feel that would just make things confusing. The Comfort, Sports and Racing breakdowns work well (though they should add "drag" tires as well). All they need to have is a real tire model to correspond to those generic tires, preferably from someone who makes real tires.
tl;dr, I voted no.
