Would this be against the AUP?

I have started a Facebook group and I want to spread the word about it. I already have a link to it in my signature (as I am allowed to do) but I want to start a thread so people can get a better idea of what this group is (as I know there would be a fair number of people who would be interested).

So my question is: can I promote my group through a thread or is it considered as advertising (which is against the AUP)? I just don't want to do something, in my passion for the group, that violates this.

As long as you're not asking anyone to buy anything or something like that you're all good.

Basically, as long as it isn't solicitation I'd say you're golden.

A thread inviting people to talk about the Animaniacs, which also happens to contain a link to your Facebook group is OK. A thread simply asking people to join your Facebook group is not.

Animaniacs, haha I remember them lol I would check out your Facebook group but my Facebook account/profile is currently deactivated. (Taking a break from it)
