Don't own PS3
If Gran Turismo is still the same as GT4, with the only difference being that you can race more cars at one time, would you still buy this game?
Because when GT4 came out, the only difference to GT3, was that it had more cars. That's it.
There's still no Ferrari, Lambor or Porsche (even though RTF resembles a lot and the fact that EA owns the license for Porsche)
But what really has changed between GT3 and GT4? I feel like I'm playing the same game just tuning up more cars.
I only bought PS2 just because of GT3 & 4, which is the only games I got on PS2.
I know that the only way I'll spent $300 on a PS3 plus $50 on a GT5 is if Polyphony (even they still don't include Ferrari or Lambor) takes a note from NFS:Most Wanted (which I still need to buy), and let us tune up the LOOK of the car. That's what really counts, I want the car I'm racing to be unique, my own style, not the same style as the opponent next to me.

And, this just me but, oil-changing, car wash, tire-wear, gas spent, has got to go. (though I did took the last two off with Codebreaker)
And I also hope for them to just make ONE universal tune shop, because having to go through menu after menu just to reach a tune shop is a bytch.

No I wouldn't buy GT5 is it was identical to GT4 in every other way.

Nope, would not buy GT5 if I knew ahead of time that it was identical to GT4 except for more cars. Possibly, POSSIBLY, rent it to see the new cars but not drop the $50 for a similar game.

No, probably better than you.

But I prefer to race without stopping

Stop being a pretentious ass. If you can't handle tire wear you are definitely playing the wrong game.

first off, GT3 and GT4 aint that similar what's different?
Tracks-all remapped, cars-waywayway more, Licenses-different(mostly), Physics-updated and or different, i.e. it's WAY harder to drift in this new one.., races-more than before
FFcars - just as impossible to drive - nm that

nope not the same though

no tire wear? what do you think GT is? NFS? why are you posting in here if you prefer the less-real more street-racing games? GT is meant to be(maybe it isnt) but is supposed to be the most realistic car racing game made - ever. tire wear, oil changing, car washing, gasoline are all part of that

hell, I'd like to see a set of tires be WAY cheaper, and have to pay to replace them - along with gas

Tire wear will NOT go because it's a simulator. In the real world, tires don't stay at a perfect temperature throughout a race.

it simulated tyres wearing out but got how long they last absolutely completely wrong.

polydig1 'yeah whats that succesful leman car?'
polydig2 'the audi R8?'
polydig1 'thats the one, how long could they go on tyres?'
polydig2 'upto 4 hours'
polydig1 '4 hours, thats about 5 laps isnt it'
polydig2 'meh, close enough'

Absolutely. The tire wear rate needs to be fixed. But removed entirely? Which was stated in the original post? Absolutely not.

Nope. I would buy it though if the graphics weren't that much of a leap from GT4, but we had realistic collision, damage, AI and so on.

I share the same opinion as LeadSlead.

Infact, I would not buy GT5 if all the changes TruSake mentions were implemented. Although I was/am not totally satisfied with the end product PD gave us with GT4, I still believe based on the changes the series underwent from GT3 to GT4 (yes, there are more differences than just the cars...... ), that this series is developing where it counts - and no, I don't mean car aesthetics as was suggested.
As much as I whine about the AI and physics (oversteer physics in particular), I feel as though they are marked improvements over GT3's offerings.

This is a racing simulator. Real cars have to pit for fuel refills and fresh rubber midrace in real life - and GT simulates that. Real cars require maintenance, and GT simulates that with oil changes, washes, and chassis refreshers.
I'll agree that the tire wear is a bit accelerated... but I believe PD only did this to make tire management an issue without putting you through a 30 or 40 lap race. A nussiance on the enduros I suppose, but I'd rather it be left as is than removed.

Why are there so many threads in the GT5 forum suggesting that the GT series become more and more like NFSU? Boy racers who want to rip around in sparkly glam'd up rice rockets should stick to NFS and let the rest of us enjoy the GT series as PD attempts to deliver a true racing experience.

Yeah, if people want less realistic, they should play a different game. It isn't real enough for my liking as it is. I wish it was more accessable though and would help guide you through more.

GT4 represents a step forward and backward in the GT "continuum."
There are way more cars, yet a lot of them suck.
There are a lot more tracks, yet a lot them are new, and Hong Kong sucks even more than SSR-11.
There has been much growth. If GT5 advances as much from GT4 as 4 has advanced from 3, I'll buy it.

I would like to see customization and body kits allowed for production (non race cars). It doesn't have to be required, just optional. IF you don't like it, don't rice it.

If bodymods are implemented, they should actually mean something to the car. Visual aerodynamic upgrades are fine by me, but they should serve their purpose, rather than just look hmmm "good" , I suppose.
And don´t take away tyrewear or fuelconsumtion! Allthough tyrewear should be a bit more realistic, and fueltanks should be individual for each car, not just 80 litres for all.

Aloha - I never, EVER, said it was perfect. It definetly needs to be improved and more realistic but I was making a point that it will NOT be removed.

That's just dumb! :grumpy:
Visual customisation is welcome, but not absolutely necessary.
Removing oil-changes, tire wear etc. is one of the stupidest things that PD could do with GT5. I want more realistic tire wear.
And if GT5 was GT4 with 20 or so cars racing at the same time, I wouldn't buy it.

^Agreed.^

Although, visual customization is a must for me. That's one of the only misses (other than AI) that I feel needs to be corrected.

That reminds me, shouldn't DOT slicks (sports tires) and road tires (N tires) last longer then racing slicks?

Motivated by this thread, I've decided that the minimum change from GT4 it would take to get my 50$ for GT5 would be another 150 cars. Or 100 cars and 3 more good tracks, that sort of improvement. I really don't care about the graphics, if it had twice as many cars and everything was green wireframes, I'd still buy it.
