I have been pondering about this for some time now and i have decided to let you all have your say about the matter. I mean whats the point of me holding new comps if nobodys going to enter. The question is pretty simple......

..Would you like to have a Photoshop Drift Competition?

This new comp would be in addition to the existing Weekly Drift Photo Competiton. Please cast your vote using the poll. Please be aware i have made this poll so i can see your names, that way i will be able to PM you if this does go ahead. Also if you vote no then make sure you leave some reasons why as id like to get views fom everybody

Also contructive thoughts about the competition would be handy. How far would you guys like to go with photoshop? I cant see full blown, add rocket boosters and huge wheels etc photoshopping appealing to the majority so id like to keep it simple but still give you all free reign on your images.

I use the term "photoshopping" as a generic term. Obviously other editing programs would be ok to use.

I'm all for it. I think I recently asked you why this wasn't included in the comps. Anyway, I'd go for an allowance of slight photoshop in the original photomore competitions (if only to clear pics up), and additionally, a second competition with Photo-editing allowed. And of course, to avoid overusage of Photoshop, put it within certain filters, like cropping, resizing, levels, brightness/contrast, hue/saturation (for the basic level) and then filters like blur, noise and sharpen (for the advanced level).

We could also use tools such as type, sharpen, blur, dodge, burn, smudge and the clone stamp (if only to remove the watermark).

It is an idea i have been toying with since the end of last year as it goes. Just ask swift how many times i have mentioned it to him. I finally know enough about photoshop myself to warrent being able to host and possibly judge the competition. I will see how this all pans out as the main reason for this competition not being brought forward before is due to the lack of people entering the drift comps. Now i have seen a increase in participants im pretty sure i can try and do the same for a new competition.

IMO, every pics will have much better quality. Some of the photoshop gurus (440, Div, Sej and others.) would probably join, increasing the numbers of participants.

I would like it with the 2.0 rules. It's not over the top and doesn't really restrict you.

I would really like to see this comp to take place. :)
 
I totally agree with this idea 👍 It would help a lot to the quality of the photos and maybe more people would vote on the polls.
 
yeah,great idea, just no over the top stuff unless like, there would be a catagory for that.

Ive been waiting for this topic to arise for a while.

The issue in the past has always been, that not everyone would own Photoshop or a pitcure editing program of its kind. But it seems of recent months that more and more people seem to own such programs and can use them quite well.

Personally i think it gives much more potential to the photo, making them more realistic, and spectacular in general.

Plus, like gt_masta explained.. We would most likely see a growing number of participants from the photomode comps forum coming over here and entering, Making competition more fierce:mischievous:

I'm guessing this competition would be additional to the existing drifting competition. In the sense that it wouldn't replace it, so people who don't have photo-editing programs will still be able to compete, albeit in a different comp. So we'd have a minumum of two competitions. I think what we'd have to agree on is the extent of photoshopping allowed in the competition.

I will mention it again. This new Photoshop will be run alongside the existing drift comp. It will not replace the existing competition!

Please read the first post before posting and also post why you wouldnt like to see this competition. Whats the point of voting negatively and not explaining why it would be a bad idea?

I join the fleet of the supporters, the main problem of pictures right from the game is the lack of contrast and colour, even small corrections can cure that problem and make the entries look as vivid as they would be in real life.

2.0 rules seem to be quite appropriate, they allow creating great pieces of art but they aren't overkills as the "no limits" pictures are sometimes.

In short, I'll be looking forward to the result. :)

Well I like this idea because I've been in the photomode section of GTP sometime now. I never thought editing pictures was even used in GTPlanet, and to this extend:odd: I really liked it. Anyway I think it's a good refreshing idea, and it shows another kind of skill, it will bring in some good competitors and the battle will be fierce:mischievous:

I would join in! But I need to learn how to drift first. I love taking drift shots, but I am usually spinning out. But I would love to join in if this comp does arise.👍

Well judging by the reaction this thread has received i am certainly going to give it a trial run at least. After that its up to all you guys to keep it going, if i dont get enough entrants i will have to shut it down.

You don't necessarily have to be good a drifting to take good drifting pictures...

I got photoshop at few days ago and I'm amazed of the opportunities with the programme. I'm still learning the basics of it, but would like to see a competition, where I can practice my skills and get feedback.
