More and more manufacturers are launching new EVs and EV racing is taking large strides forward. What do you think about this category?

Yes a Gr.E for electric racing vehicles and a E100-1000 for electric road cars.
I would like to see this beautiful new Mercedes concept make the list.

Only if they can make enough cars for the proposed category, really no need if there’s less than 5. They can just use the PP system to balance road cars.

Having for one category for all electric racecars is a bad idea; you need a few of them. Group 4E, Group 3E, Group 2E and Group 1E.

sigh. Grats on your massive thread count.
I wish they'd just make an EV race Group. Use the VGT program or something to get manufacturers to design a bunch of GT3-ish EVs, magic up some supercapacitivehighpressureflywheelbatterytrons that charge to full in 30-60 seconds and call it a day. It'd be ********, but at least it'd be ******** in the name of making an interesting class of cars a viable racing series.

I don't see GT7 having that many electric cars to support that many classes. Maybe GT9.

...why not !

Some petrol heads look down on electric cars, call them vacuum cleaners, resent the lack of a clutch, etc.

Speaking completely out of ignorance as I know nothing really of electric cars or electric car racing, what exactly is the skill ceiling? As there is no gears it feels like a fairly large part of discovering how to be fast around a track is gone and it is boiled down to braking points and that's it. Not saying that being in the right gear is some massive learning curve or anything but its definitely a part of learning a new car or track. There will still be people who go faster then others but with instant torque and no gears it almost feels too easy and maybe boring? Suppose I should try it first before being too judgemental.

When you're using to an ICE vehicle's characteristics, it might as well be "electric". It becomes intuition to shift in the right torque range.

Well, almost...

Main man @Magog is taking over GTP.

I would love to see an electric racing category in GT7.

If that’s where the future of racing/auto is headed, it needs to be represented, whether fans or Polyphony likes it or not. They chose to document auto and racing history.

There is no need PP is just fine for the road cars and we don't have enough race cars to create a new specific group.

Well obviously this would require some new "tuned by PD for use in Gr-E" cars. Probably easiest just to modify road cars already in the game as well as a few new ones.

Thats a bit too far into the future considering they haven't fixed the basic group system imo.

Perhaps, but I'd only add it when there are enough electric vehicles around. Perhaps this "Gr.E" could be made up of made-for-game racing versions of other EVs, like the Ford Mustang Mach E. Otherwise, I don't see there being enough EVs in GT7 to make an E-Series nor Gr.E. That said, I definitely look forward to if PD decides to actually add Formula E.

Eh, I'm not so sure. To me, it just looks like a Mercedes-Benz version of the Alpine A110.

Whether or not GT7 is the game to do it, I think it's inevitable at some point. As more electric cars are being manufatured in the real world, the liklihood is we will see more and more of them in racing games, including Gran Turismo.

I see a possible Gr. E as a class for Formula E vehicles, but that depends on the generation (Gr. E - Gen1, Gr. E - Gen2, Gr. E - Gen3, etc.)

If you can steer an automatic transmission car, it’s basically the same. Engine braking in GT isn’t that accurate anyway.

Since they have said that creating their own Gr.3/4 vehicles from road cars is actually the most time-consuming type of car they can actually make, I would rather have them add real cars instead of inventing something (Gr.E cars) that does not exist.

They could just use the Tuning Shop parts on electric road cars to speed the process. Maybe even have a livery contest where the community designs them. Very little effort.

But the FIA all-electric touring car world championship exists
