WRC 8 Pre-Order Bonuses and Special Editions Revealed

Now both the 037 and the group A Delta require pre-order + collectors edition? Mk2 Escort too? Do these guys just hate specifically me?

I'll probably still buy this but, damn, that's pretty predatory toward my wallet.

I spoke to a friend who Tried wrc 8 in rally finland. He Said it feels much like wrc 7 with better graphics.

I'm not going to worry about the extra cars/DLC for now. Between SLRE and the DiRTs I've played them to death, anyway. And with only one car per class it seems kind of pointless for now. The attraction of the official game is the modern WRC license.

Plus Kylotonn tends to overprice their DLC.

I didn't care with 7, where it was just the Porsche, as that's pretty left-field for a rally car, but the Escort and the two Lancias are so iconic that it annoys me that they're just fishing for more money from the people who are bigger rally fans.

I'll struggle to justify the money for a game on release and definitely won't be able to justify the extra cash for collector's, and I'll be real sad when I see that Delta.

So how do we get the extra cars if not pre-ordering ?
Via DLC ? Or not at all ?

Most likely DLC. The Porsche was available for five bucks shortly after release of WRC7. If you're interested in the DLC you should strongly consider getting in with one of these complete editions. Look at the individual DLC prices in V-Rally 4 if you don't believe me.

Yep I remember that too well!

I'm not sure what to do at the moment, I love the idea of the classics but like you pointed out all have been available in other games for some time and yes the main focus is the WRC so it won't really spoil the game without them. Also I'm willing to bet that you won't be able to use them in a championship mode either which if it's the case then pretty worthless to me.

I think I go simply with the base game. Those DLC cars will be something for a sale if I want to drive them. As Pfei said, they are available already in many other games. I think there will be more classic French related cars in the base game since as a French developper, FIA and WRC have easier access to those. Could be wrong though... Xsara Kitcar, 205 T16 could very well be in from the start (speculation on my side)

Haven’t played this series for a few iterations but all this upselling is big turn off. I mean, way to make me feel like I’m buying a gimped version of the game if I don’t preorder the ultra deluxe premium collector edition

Don't let it bother you in this case. The base game has all the cars, teams and rallies of the 2019 WRC. That's what we're here for, after all. These DLCs honestly just feel like afterthoughts that won't enhance the game very much at all.

As much as I would like the pre-order cars, I will be waiting to get this game since I am still playing Dirt Rally 2.0 regularly. I loved WRC7, so I expect 8 to be as good or better.

Why on Earth is it not possible to pre-order a retail copy of the game that includes just the Legendary Car Pack, not the steelbook or WRC pass? That's annoying. "Digital Deluxe! Here's a reward for contributing in part to the erosion of your consumer rights!"

I'm not. I'm here for rally, not for the 2019 WRC. I've been crossing my fingers for plenty of retro cars -- if they had never promised any at all, I'd be on the fence about buying this.

The thing is, without full historic rally classes, these individual classic cars are useless. If you like the classics then Loeb Rally EVO and the DiRTs are much better options than this.

I also don't understand why you're looking at the official WRC game if you don't care about 2019 WRC.

Amen to that.

@Pfei -- I already have and played SLRE and Dirt 4. I'm looking at the official WRC game for the usual reasons; stages, handling, features, gameplay... :) Overall it looks like a better game than SLRE, D4, V-Rally 4, or Dirt Rally 2.0.

A career mode centered upon uninspiring 2019-model subcompacts still beats Codemasters' trademark BS, or the exceptionally messy handling of VR4 (to the best of my knowledge). I'm just glad Kylotonn threw me a bone with some more appealing cars to enjoy on the side.

CBA with pre-order bonus bull anymore. I pray for the day every company reflects CDPR approach to their fans and customers with The Witcher and Cyberpunk etc.

I don’t see the preorder on the U.S. PS store. I did find what appears to be the base edition on Amazon for $49.99 which is curiously less expensive than what’s listed here.

Overall the different preorder bonuses don’t make much sense to me. I’ll stick to the base game disc whatever the price happens to wind up. Don’t need the classic cars or 48 hour early access. As for the bonus senior staff members, in my experience that usually ruins the game by making it too easy.

WRC7 was also $10 less than in Europe. I paid 59.99€ for it with a Spanish account and it was $49.99 in the US.

I don't know why, but games with "FIA" in the title tend to release later in the Americas. For example F1 2010, WRC7 and the recent Euro Truck Racing. Some WRC titles weren't even released at all in the US. Let's hope the launch is global this time.

This,Exactly this,is what's taking the fun away from gaming which if I remember correctly was the whole point.Spending a $100* for a game that may or not deliver is no small ask these days considering their actual market value when trading/selling.Now all this pre-order/exclusive/dlc has pushed prices past where I'm comfortable paying for a new release.Developers argue increasing production costs equal higher retail prices yet quality control budgets seem to have being slashed to a single "community manager" who's job is now content salesman/crowd control.
I love gaming,Always have but the relationship seems a little one sided atm.
* Australian Dollar.

Idk about Kylotonn Games or Big Ben Ent. The V-Rally 4 Season Pass in the US PS Store is broken, & doesn't unlock all of the content, and neither them nor Sony would/could do anything about it after numerous calls & messages to their customer service dept.
