x80 may not be dead

MG's X80 coupe project which was thought to be on hold is still alive and well. A car has recently been spotted testing in the UK under light disguise.

Styling is similar to that seen on the original car, but with squarer features to give a more aggressive overtone. Flared wheel arches, a more defined front spoiler and bigger lights are likely. Bigger wheels are also give the car more road presence.

Based on the Qvale Mangusta the X80 is believed to be running a hot V8, good enough to justify a £60K+ price and to compete with other cars in that sector.

Nice looking car. I cant see where the lukewarm reception couldve been.

Up to 500bhp on the hot models according to Autocar, it suddenly sounds a lot more interesting than the soft, unattractive GT we've seen previously.

"Lukewarm reception"? I don't remember anything but "highly anticipated", followed by "deep regret" when it was [temporarily] shelved. The old rebadged model couldn't have been to bad either, given that the Mangusta was well recieved. Then given how the XR, XS, and XT have gone, the 500HP version of the X80 should go over like chocolate chip pancakes to a kindergarten class. :D
