So I've been in the process of moving to a new house for the last month, and have yet to set up internet at my new place. I've purchased FM4, and have really been enjoying it (a real breath of fresh air after all of my frustration with GT5).

As I have yet to connect to the interweb, I have a question regarding online play. How much of the online content is available with an Xbox Live Free membership? Is a Gold membership necessary to access most, or even all online content?

Silver account will allow download of demos and such.
As its tour first time you will get a months free trial I believe.

Make sure when activating the free month trial of Gold, you're logged into the account you want to get it. It's a bit counter-intuitive if you're coming from using PS3 a lot (popups telling me I was signed out had me worried), but as long as you access the offer from the dashboard, it should work.

You should also get an offer after that to get a second month for $1. After that, they'll charge you the monthly amount, so if you are planning on keeping Gold, make sure to upgrade to the yearly deal before that $1 month is up to avoid the higher per-month charge.

Thanks guys. I guess I should clarify a little though. I know how to get a gold membership, I've had one before, just didnt renew it after my year was up.

What I was asking was if the gold membership was required to access FM4's online content. I was wondering if I'd be able to do rivals mode, surf storefronts, race online etc etc with an Xbox Live Free (ie I don't pay a monthly fee, even after the first month is up).

I want to avoid buying a stupid gold membership if I can, because I think it's absolute BS that Microsoft an T10 would make us pay to use the online features of this game.

I was under the impression that this wasn't a pay-to-play game, a la most MMORPGs. If they're going to make me pay a monthly fee, then I damn well expect monthly updates/patches, bug support/fixes, and new content outside of DLC. I'm going to be very choked if I have to pay more on top of the $69.99 I've already shelled out, AND on top of the DLC.

On a completely unrelated topic (well, maybe related, hopefully not), I seem to be missing some cars. I just did an S-class Asian tour event, and raced against several cars I have yet to find in the dealerships...namely a Mines R32, Mines R34, and the Top Secret S15. Now that I think about it, that S15 is in the opening video. Where are these cars, how do I get them in game? If they are part of some car pack that I have to pay even more money for, then that will be the last straw, and I'll be out like shout.

Thanks again for the responses.

You can do Rivals, the rest needs gold.

They are unicorns you win in the auction house(unlikely) or by participating in T10 contests.

And I'm guessing that to view the auction houses, or participate in the contests (what kind of contests btw?), I need a gold membership?

They're giving away unicorn BMWs at random to people playing the Aventador Rivals Monthly event. I don't think you need a Gold account for that.
