Note the "Mode" switch on the Thrustmaster TX wheel -- this is virtually identical to the "Mode" switch on the T500 wheel, and that switch is used to change the pedal "mode" from the "GT" (top-hinged pedals) to the "F1" (bottom-hinged pedals) position.

Wonder what that means with regard to the Thrustmaster TX pedals -- or is that "Mode" switch for some OTHER function (like switching from Xbox One mode to PC mode, maybe)?

I just noticed that the madcatz has dual paddles on either side of the wheel. that there would would probably be the clutch

If these new Xbox One wheels feature PC compatibility, that Mad Catz wheel looks like it could become a "modern-day" equivalent to the DFGT or G27 wheel, depending on the price point -- looks like it has quite a bit of potential to be MUCH more "high-end" than people typically give Mad Catz credit for, IMO.

Ya, heres hoping anyway. I wouldnt use the pedals that go with it but am curious to see how the wheel performs by itself. Looks like they took the design of the CSW dual ffb motors and overall look, and then tried to reduce the cost by using less expensive construction materials. The look of the base has CSW all over it though. Wonder what else is the same on the inside

I still believe that it is too early to discuss XBOX One compatible wheels. The above ones are the entry level wheels (even with $399 price tag). No true sim-racer would race with a wheel on his/hers laps.

Thrustmaster never made a high-end XBOX wheel thus I personally do not expect one this time either.

There is one company that has the expertise and the necessary experience to make a good wheel for all platforms including XBOX TV One. And yes, it is Fanatec.

Good to see that Thrustmaster & Mad Catz have been putting in work, these wheels look nice but I'll be waiting to see what Fanatec does before making my final decision...

Could you imagine putting a T500 or Fanatec wheel in your lap

My original Fanatec Turbo came with lap wings. Needless to say, they never saw any use.

I find game and system branded gear irksome. The GT on the T500, the Forza stuff on the CSRs... My character usually largely disregards those types of aesthetics (my rigs are functional rather than beautiful), but I just can't help it bugging me. That said, the Mad Catz wheel has a pretty decent general look to it, regardless.

The CSRs are definitely the ugly ducklings of Fanatec's gear in my opinion.

I have one and I totally agree. Would like to see some kind of CSW for consoles, but they are more expensive than the console  And really, you don't need a CSW for console since there is not a sim for it..

Err... GT5 and the up coming GT6 is compatible with the csw

I was looking for their comment on their Facebook page specifically stating that it was not compatible. I found it under Simracer92's question. They took a wrong turn there but maybe their hand was forced due to licensing. If not... sheesh. I'm surprised they answered the question.

Though, this topic is about xbox one, not ps4. ;)

From the press release:

"Thanks to Thrustmaster’s unique experience and passion for racing, the wheel has been optimized to provide jaw-droppingly lifelike sensations in “Forza Motorsport 5” on Xbox One, by way of metal gas and brake pedals and wheel-mounted, die-cast paddle shifters."

Wonder if that means no clutch?

On the face of it, it doesn't make sense for either Madcatz or Thrustmaster to make a wheel that is exclusive to the xbox 1. Microsoft must be mandating that wheels be exclusive. I suspect that they would also have to be paying Thrustmaster and Madcatz to make them exclusive. I can't see there being much of a market for a $400 wheel that can only be used on one console. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Madcatz and Thrustmaster some exclusivity or timed exclusivity for their respective pricepoints and that might be why we haven't heard from Fanatec yet.

I have to wonder if the person doing the posting on Facebook is either misinformed or not allowed to say. They preceded their comment regarding compatibility with "... this is a Official Xbox One Racing Wheel." To which it seems their Facebook poster may take this as "not compatible with anything but xbox."

It's hard to say until things are a little more public. The same goes for why Fanatec hasn't announced anything. Though, I would not hold your breath waiting for the reason behind Fanatec's absence.

I suspect that many people are simply reading too much into the "Official Xbox One Racing Wheel" desgination and statements like this:

Being "fully dedicated to the Xbox One" doesn't mean it's NOT going to be compatible with other systems and/or the PC. The T500 has all the necessary dedicated PlayStation buttons, for example, so it's "fully dedicated to the PS3" but it also works for the PC.

If you look at the history of more expensive game controllers such as the G25/G27, CSW, and the T500, they've ALL been essentially "dedicated to" or "fully compatible with" one specific system, but they've also been compatible with other platforms and/or the PC as well.

I see no reason to believe that a $399 Thrustmaster wheel will ONLY work on the Xbox One -- that just doesn't make any kind of economic sense, and I seriously doubt that even Micro$oft would dole out the kind of money required to subsidize an Xbone-ONLY wheel.

It wouldn't be out of character for microsoft to subsidize a wheel. They do throw out money for exclusive content or timed exclusives. They may think that since they are first to market with a "next gen" sim that they can get some lock in by having a one console only wheel thus getting some of Sony's GT market.

If you look at the back of the Madcatz wheel, it looks like it has a port for a power adapter and for pedals but no standard USB port. There could still be one on the side but I wouldn't count on it.

None of this matters all that much to me, at least not immediately, since just requiring another wheel prices me out of the market.

Yep, both "fully dedicated to the Xbox One" and "Official Xbox One Racing Wheel" are no foundation for literal exclusivity. "Fully dedicated" in particular reads like very specific wording, and lends itself much more to the power of suggestion.
