xDriftzz 350z Drift Tune (G27)

In attempt to make the drifting scene on GT6 more lively I have decided to put a tune out there. This tune is for my most prized GT6 possession and I hope it will help others understand how to drift and tune their cars better. It is still a work in progress but all in all it is well beyond being capable of drifting numerous laps around most tracks and is borderline competition ready. 720p is available for all videos below.

Video Notes:

  • I understand the springs may look off, however that is why I clicked on both spring rates to show you that I had no choice but to set the rear to such a high number. As I continue to tune more and more cars I notice that GT6's numerical values don't have as much of an effect as one might think they do. For example, using the springs again, 11.84F and 19.03R is ludicrous but if you look at the blue bars below the numerical values you will notice that the front is almost three times stiffer than the rear. I don't exactly understand how this works but it does.
  • Also the LSD, I understand that 5, 60, 60 is what we ran on GT5 however I have found that to be "off" in a sense of unexpected changes occur while drifting that are very unforgiving. If you read the description of initial torque while tuning in GT6 it says "The more sensitive the LSD, the less pronounced the change in handling when it kicks in. The higher the setting the less likely unexpected changes in handling are to occur, but the more likely you are to experience understeer." Therefore, a 60, 60, 60 LSD (Based off of how GT6 describes the different values of the LSD) seems more like a locked diff (Correct me if I'm wrong).
  • Finally, another thing I have noticed they implemented into the game was the difference in torque range/output with different parts, hence the reason why I have chosen to use a stage 2 engine and a sports exhaust. The parts I have chosen -- from the engine to the supercharger -- allow my car to handle the way I want it to in terms of throttle response and along with the suspension I have created myself a drift car that fits MY DRIFTING STYLE.
Then again I may be overthinking the realism when it comes to tuning in GT6 a bit but I like to try to obtain he best possible tune I can.

Current issues with the car:

  • Slight understeer here and there, stiff on initial turn in, and struggles a little uphill.
Some videos to show the handling of the vehicle:

I gave your setup a try, and even on a DS3 it felt really good. I was surprised at how comfortable the 60/60/60 diff felt. I was expecting a lot more understeer. The transmission feels good too 👍

I'll admit the suspension feels a little bit hard for my liking. I'll definitely do some more testing and tweaking on it though.

Glad to hear feedback. I will be tweaking this setup for a long time but will also be uploading other tunes.

Looks about right to me, i'd swap your toe angles round though. You want some toe out on the front and a little toe in on the rear to aid with traction. Not too much though as large rear toe in angles prevent the car from exiting a drift.

I understand your logic but when you USE the car you'll be surprised at how it handles. This car FEELS and HANDLES how it should.

Hey, is it fully done up?

If you watch the video then you see all the parts installed.

I have been over it all, but still can't find what the dog-clutch part is? maybe different states?

Ooooohhhh haha that isn't really too essential to understand. Just making it sound more fancy than it has to. Ignore the name however if you feel the need to understand it, it will take a while (about a hour) but google will help tackle the common questions.

Okay man, I will keep with my normally named tranny, I still can't understand her as it is.

...Okay here's what I'm saying. I'm pretty sure in GT5 it was named "Fully Customizable Transmission" and now in GT6 it's named "Fully Customizable Dog-Clutch Transmission". In the GT series they have never implemented a in depth clutch system therefore the name DOG-CLUTCH LITERALLY MEANS LITTLE TO NOTHING IN THIS CASE. Please ignore the name and either follow my setup or stop posting in this thread.

Okay sweet, chill man.... I don't even have that on my GT6.

Wait what???? Haha how do you not have the dog clutch in your GT6?

I don't now? I guess thats why I am so confused, I just have a fully customizable transmission, it could be state/country or you running mph -> Kph witch I am using?

I dunno maybe that's it. Well yes the fully customizable transmission is the one to use. Sorry for being rude earlier.

nicely done, but i think u could've put it in the GTPlanet's Drift Setting Library thread :P
but definitely gonna try this on my g25. cheers ^^

Just tried your setup and I'ts awesome ! I changed the lsd to 5/30/30 tho.. With those lsd numbers the setup works for me pretty well :)

I find it imposible to drift with a wheel! :( I would say I'm a good driver but just can't drift with a wheel! :( can you make a wheel cam video? :) I understand if you don't want to do that! :)

Me too, I use DFGT. Does DFGT and G27 have big difference in drifting?
I loved drifting in GT5, always drifted with DFGT, now in GT6 I can't drift at all, it feels almost impossible. :(

Tried this 350z drift tune but couldn't drive it.

But I'm driving a g27 and still find it more or less impossible
