I'm not really sure what this is, but its some sort of program that's installed on my computer and I can't get rid of it. It keeps changing my homepage to www.xupiter.com/toolbar and it installed a tool bar that won't go away in IE6. I found a program on my computer but no matter how many times I delete it, it just comes back, kinda like gator. I just need someone to tell me how to get rid of it.

OA

Well if it's adware, download ad-aware from here www.lavasoftusa.com and scan your PC. That should help you remove the program and it's registry entries, without having to search the registry yourself. Also delete your internet cache, cookies and history.

Oh and never go to any other website apart from GTP.

Actually, it's probably more like adware/spyware since it is not causing any real problems. But I agree with Race Idiot by going to that website and downloading Adaware. You might be suprised at what you could find on your computer.

I had a simmilar problem at work, but not with Xupiter on someones browser. Basically there was something in the registry that was messing around with the browser settings I ended up searching the registry looking around for this and eventually deleting the registry keys associated with the software stopped the problem. Although I would have used ad-aware if I knew about it at the time.

I hate when people blame every computer problem on a "virus". It's not a virus you ass clowns!

Do what Race Idiot said. It's Spyware and Ad-aware will clean it up. :)

Heck, i downloaded and installed ad aware even though i wasnt having any problem with ads or anything. I run a scan, and i get 68 files identified. Its gator and stuff.. I was amazed!

Get it.

this is if u have win xP
1: press crtl-alt-delete goto processes ther will be an XU image name END THE PROCESS.
2: GO to RUN type: msconfig, go to startup tab then UNCHECK the Xu folders.
3: NOW go to program files and delete the XU folder, it wont let u delete the .dll files SO move them to your desktop, (or anywhere u can see it). RESTART then delete the dll files when windows is back...

Well you could do that in any version of windows. You would just have to know what the tasks the Xupiter spyware was running. You also forgot to remove the registry entrys, which can still mess around with the actual browser.

Or you could just download ad-aware an let that remove the whole thing cleanly.

Lavasoft is the ebst software ever!

I remember when I was new to PC's I accidently instaleld Gator and it screwed me over so i deleted it mannually registry, sartup programs in the sytem thing and everything! I am glad I learn't somethign from it! - Don't install anything you don't know about and have an adware spyware program handy!
