I have been waiting for GT5 to come out since I finished the "Scrooge does GT4" series almost three years ago. I was kind of getting into a "never going to play GT again" mindset so I put away the PS2 in some out of sight shelf in the garage about a year ago.

Thanks to our Prime Minister (who gave everyone a couple of thou for xmas to help stave off recession) I finally replaced the old NSTC TV for a Full HD LCD. While I was putting the old TV in the garage I found the PS2 and the GT4 stuff...

I hooked it up to the new TV just to see if it looked any better... Dang! Having a PAL PS2 going through a converter into a NTSC TV really gave crap image quality. I would have enjoyed GT4 a lot more if I had this kind of image quality!

So I started a new game. I am a bit rusty to say the least. It has been almost three years since I last played GT4. But that kind of makes it exciting in a way. I got a new game (7 silvers... yay!) and a brand new TV in which I can play the game on 16:9 and actually see a lot of the detail that was pretty blurry on the old setup so I am having fun.

I think this time I will do the game I was thinking of doing when I finished the Scrooge series. It it something along these lines:

- 1 hour play per day
- All licences and all tests first
- All A Spec races
- GT4 Genome discovery. Sounds fancy but all it is is to map all the possible races that can be run with each car with and without modifications.

Should be fun...

Cheers,,

Enjoyed the Scrooge series. Looking forward to this one. Will probably be just as entertaining. Go for it.

Great to hear, Mr.Slow!! This underscores one of the things I've been saying for a while... There are VERY FEW games that have as much replay value as the ones in the GT series!

I've read (most of) your previous work, and have used it as a partial reference for planning my own progress. I'll be rootin' for ya!!

There are still a lot of things being "discovered" with this game, and if you're in need of any data that might help you, let us know!
...

Are you planning on doing another "minimum" type run-through? If so, don't forget to check up on the 1st of June thread, as we've since been able to limit the # of cars driven down to 47...

Go get 'em, Mr. Slow!!👍

Have A Great Drive!

Not sure about doing a "minimum" type run. I always wanted to write a database with all the possible races that each car can enter with and without modifications/driver aids. It would list the A-Spec points, driving hints and best possible outcome (some races you won't be able to win regardless of mods/technique)

Ofcourse this could take a very very long time doing it by myself but having collaborators means I gotta get the procedures done first.... I guess it all depends on how much time I can dedicate to it.

Time will tell...

Well, I can help ;) As soon as I get myself a new PS2 and a new GT4 disk (will be next week, I think)..

Best wishes,

Welcome back Mr.Slow! 👍
As a regular reader of your Mr. Scrooge threads I can't wait to see what else you'll come up with for us to enjoy! :)

Man time flies when you are having.... to work too hard!
I never finished the game. Between work and the kids it just wasn't happening. I ended up trading the PS2 and the game for a gift card....

Looking forward to GT5... I have a couple of $ saved that I told the wife it was for "selfish indulgence" it is all mine mine mine!!!

If you haven't already, hook up the PS2 through your HD LCD with a Component Cable.

It's the best the PS2 can output and will show GT4 off in its best light.
