YEEEEEEEEEEHAAA!!! Team Parking Lot Rally, report in!

Welcome to winter, kids. It's colder than holy hell and I've officially opened the 2002 season of PLR by shaking my money maker in an empty (but snowy) lot.

Much as I hate cold weather and shoveling, a few minutes of lift throttle oversteer makes it all better. You people in the Great White North know what I mean. :D

So, let the season begin! Remeber just this one thing: an empty, snowy lot is a challenge you must not decline.

:burnout: :D

That is what winter is all about. Lock up you e brake, do a 180 (aka V-Slide) then if you have a front wheel drive car, do a reverse 180 after the V-Slide, to complete a full 360*. Ah, the joy of winter.

Hmmm... the more I think about it, the more I realise how perfect the A4 would be for this. Alas, only a small amount of snow has fallen here yet (our first real snowfall came yesterday) and I'm scared to go out driving for fear of being stabbed to death by someone in a blue minivan.

Ah, I know the A4 is perfect for such fun firsthand! That's what I drove on the wet skidpad at the Audi Driving School while the instructor yanked the handbrake at unexpected intervals. It was a blast!

Ahaa, that does sound fun - where is the Audi Driving School? I know BMW has their M Driving School near Spartanburg, South Carolina where they make some of their cars.

My AWD Civic was the funnest car to rally around the powdery snow in. Sadly, I don't have it running this year, so I will be doing the odd fishtail maneuver with the XJ6. It's very heavy and, with a lot of effort, will start to slide very slowly and then it won't stop sliding for much longer than you expect. I don't like to risk doing any opposite lock 90 degree turns in the XJ6 because noone likes an out of control 4,390lb jaguar sliding toward their 2,050lb Tercel or Civic. Not to mention the fact that the Jag would do a number on most houses! Also, even though the Jaguar itself was only $14,000 USD, a new front fascia or fixing a bent axle would cost around $5-6,000 USD or more. Not worth the risk's

ahhhhh yes!

Nothing quite like a nice fresh layer of snow and ice on a empty parking lot and a rear wheel drive car to go with it! :D

I was trying to practice my reverse trooper slides last week. Get going in reverse and then spin the car around 180 and start driving forward without missing a beat. Haven't mastered it yet though. I'll keep trying.

Crazy Illinoisians.... :weird:

12 Sec Civic...my tercel weighed 1950 lbs. :D It was a superior drift machine because its supension was pure, unadulterted crap. The solid bean rear suspension was great for inducing snap oversteer (the Scandanavian flick worked wonderfully). It was also fairly easy to stop - just counter-steer and hit the throttle. It came around fast enough that an unanticipated slide could turn into full spin very quickly. Ask me how I know.

The Integra is a little too nicely mannered with its snow shoes on. Good for the street, yes, but lousy for the lot. ;) But that's easily mitigated with a good head of speed and lifting the throttle while turning. Plus, it's easy to catch the tail. It doesn't snap out on you.

Jordan....can I even find words to describe my jealousy? :smilewink Where is the Audi school located? How did you get in? Is our very own Jordan an Audi owner? :D

But that's OK...I just need to start saving so I can head over to Team O'Neil in New Hampster. Someday.... :)

The 3 is good for this. My bro's cars too but that's too much power. Our van drifts too(RWD power!).

'sposed to be snowing in pa today. But since im in NC, i don't know for certain. If ti is, i'll definitely be having some fun with my neighbors old Z28 when i get back.:D

The driving school is at Road Atlanta in Georgia. Anyone can get in, you just need to call them up and set up a reservation for one of the scheduled classes. I took their 2 day Advanced Handling course, where I got to drive an Audi TT convertible (with the top down, of course) through an autocross course! It was great - the quattro system absolutely glues the car to the road like nothing I've driven before - I kept pushing harder and harder but the TT never even came close to loosing its footing! :D In all seriousness, you learn alot about safety and how to control the car in emergency situations, and I feel like a much safer and more confident driver now. Of course, all the instructors are great guys, and I even got a private tour of the Panoz garage there at the track. It really was great, and I highly recommend it - you can go to http://www.panozracingschool.com/Handling_TwoDay.asp for more information. :)

Ah, you have no idea how much I would like to answer "yes" to that question, but unfortunately I can't. :(

The TT is probably the Audi most suited for the Quattro system - it's fairly light and sure-footed as is, plus it has the 'wheel at each corner' stance that makes the 350Z such a good drivers' car. After having driven several Quattros fairly recently, I must say that Audi's AWD system is extremely good on its entire range, though that should be expected on 'quality' cars like Audis, especially A6's and A8's equipped with the system. Plus, Audi did invent AWD. :D
